Re: What's this?
In my opinion it is the result of a late frost or water on top of the tissue, while exposed to the sun. In both situations the substance of the tissue is damaged, allowing botrytis to infect the cells. No problem in my opinion. Just remove the damaged leaf and let the plant grow new ones. Greets fro...

Re: Virus in Zounds?
It might be Golden Sunburst - the solid yellow form of Frances Williams. It can get spring dessication burn when conditions are cold and some believe it is more predominant when it is also wet. It doesn't have to frost, just get below 40 degrees and this can happen. Golden Sunburst will do this alm...

Hallo jgh,
Carnival because the cream-white edge shows signs of burning (FW-heritage). If it is a smaller one i really do have no idea.

Re: Praying Hands question...
Hi jgh
yes i had some eyes that showed the same behaviour. For me they look a lot like a fortunei type of plant, maybe something like Hyacinthina in background. They look a bit like an all green sport of Whirlwind (Second Wind) and show the same massive substance. Any other ideas? Greets planwerk

Re: HVX on my nice blue one????
I took some pictures of a Guacamole. This plant was divided in february and obviously damaged while doing it. It comes from a tested and clean batch of Guacamole from the netherlands (van den Top). The plant shows the symptoms we discussed on both sides, all other leaves look fine: Top: http://img.a...

Re: HVX on my nice blue one????
Thanks Chris! This picture (by noreaster) of an infected Halcyon looks different. It is more the bleeding type of symptoms, like the one we know from S&S and Striptease. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y251/colleenseamus/garden/hvx.jpg It would be very helpful if rosenzobel could have tested the pl...

Re: HVX on my nice blue one????
Thats what I think. Hmm, pretty difficult thing. I sometimes have bumpings like this when the hostas (tardianas mostly) come up quickly during a warm spring.
Anyway, Halcyon is pretty easy to get, even bigger plants from a safe place.

Re: plantaginea vs. plantaginea 'Grandiflora'
I 100% agree with you Chris. But written word is more powerful and some people still think there are two types of plain green plantagineas. Some people even don't buy the plant at my nursery because the tag says Hosta plantaginea. What about splitting the bunch in two and label them with both names?...

Re: What turned out to be your best newer hostas this year?
For me it is Lederhosen . Perfect grower, big and good smelling flowers on top of a towering scape (1,2 meters high), long flowering periode, amazing blue-green foliage that could be used to sew a leatherpant. Great Escape impresses me too. The contrast of blue and white combined with the thick subs...

Halcyon.
There are many different types of Halcyon on the market (all kind of TC-Types). Looks pretty cool and a lot like the "original" Halcyon (in my opinion).
