Re: Is Great Expectations still the best of its type?
I have all 3 GE, Thunderbolt and Northern Explosure, I'm in zone 4. Both Thunderbolt and GE have a steady growing rate and increased at least double their size from year to year. Both of these have had to fight with roots from trees and haven't stopped their growth. Where as my Northern Explosure ha...

Linda, I would add "Lena" to my yard! The color, leaf shape and size is very nice! Hopefully in the future "Lena" will be available.

Re: Northern Exposure
Linda I have to wonder if it might be the same grower, since we both live in N W IL? If not the same one, like you I'm so happy to have found Chris and Brian by far every hosta I have gotten from them has had a great root system, the hostas are larger, healthy and true to name then any I ever gotten...

Re: Northern Exposure
Northern Exposure one of my top favorites and was the first expensive hosta I bought about 9 years ago. I remember I took several trips 3 or 4 and phone calls to the hosta farm to buy one that summer, everytime they still had not divide any yet. On the last call towards the end of summer I was told ...

Re: what looks good yet?
As I went out to feed our 2 rabbits this afternoon I checked the gardens to see what if any was still looking good. June, Remember Me and Ice Age Trail were the only ones. Didn't expect any since last weekend we had snow, rain and freezing temps plus stong blowing cold winds. None of these are in a ...

Re: Hibiscus
Very nice flowers on them! I only have one left a white one, which has been the closest to the house with more foot traffic. I'm thinking the groundhogs or some night creature have ate, killed the others. Next spring I'm going to divide it, it's been in the same location for as least 5 years. Plus I...

Re: Stems with fans growing
Thanks everyone you are the best, this is the first time I've seen or maybe noticed this growing on one of the daylilies. Really surprised me, first thought was maybe a seed had fallen on one of the leaf thingy that grows out of the stem...then I noticed it was attacted to the stem! The one in the s...

Stems with fans growing
On 2 different daylily stems while I was collecting seeds today I found a baby daylily growing. One looks to be a single fan whereas the other looks like there is 3 fans. Photos included. What should I do with these? Plant them in the ground now or in a pot? If a pot can I grow them inside over the ...

Well that a lot larger then mine about 4" long by 1/2" wide, yet it's a second year TC. Also is your in a very sunny place? As mine is still mostly blue, green, yellow and white streaks.

Seedling from Chris seeds
One of my favorites from Chris's mixed red stem seeds. Love the wavy leaves, it's first leaf showed a hint of a wave and it just keeps getting better!

Thank you Chris, that's it!
No wonder I could never figure out what it was as I was looking under-searching perennials.
"and so delicate looking!" the flower is but it stands it's ground even in the toughest wind storm.

Chris your Raspberry Sorbet looks like there is some streaking going on a few of those leaves? Or is it just the way the light hit them? You sent me a bonus of Raspberry Sorbet this spring and I must say I love this one. It demands attention, you can't help to draw your eyes to it! Always looks grea...
