What kind of crown rot is it? Mushy, gray, and smelly or dry and rusty brown? You can try and save the plants by cutting out the rot and treating with a specific root rot chemical. This photograph was stock from the photographer so I didn't see the original plant, nor was it labeled in any way. Wish I could answer questions about size, height, and foliage! I thought I would try my luck here before I scrapped the photo and found something else.

Don, Wow, thanks. Maybe that's why my entire patch of Showy Orchis disappeared. I dug up two last year and moved them closer to the house - they are the only two orchis that survived. Thanks - With your help I was able to figure out they are the smaller variety, Cypripedium calceolus parviflorum, "Lesser Yellow Lady's Slipper". I hope they keep coming back! So many of our wildflowers show up for a few years than disappear.
