Re: 2018
Hi LucyGoose and kHT ! I don't "do" Facebook -- glad to see you folks here. It does seem a little dead here, considering how busy it used to be. My first name is Laura. I'm looking for Wee White Smooth Hydrangea -- thought Chris might sell them. Anyone here grow them? Any reviews? If I stand on my t...

Re: Lantana question
Thanks for the link, Happygdnr ~ I'm going to keep some seeds and try to propagate them next year. I don't have grow lights or bright enough sun coming in our windows to try to keep them. It's been at least 15 years since I planted lantana and they were so gorgeous this summer, plus they attracted e...

Re: Lantana question
Thanks Chris! I appreciate your response. Then, I'm going to keep some of those berries and try to propagate them.

Lantana question
Hello! I planted a lot of lantana in pots this year and it was all beautiful. It's the first time I've planted lantana in several years. Now that temps are cooling, all the lantana are putting on small dark purple berries. These purple berries are growing where the old blooms fell off. My question i...

Re: Hosta Bulbs???
Thank you all!
No, they aren't talking about shipping the bare root version -- they call the hosta plants in pots "hosta bulbs" -- cracks me up. I just needed validation that I was right.

Hosta Bulbs???
Chris, are you there? Long time, no see. I have a question for you and all the hosta experts here. I work in a garden center where all my co-workers refer to hostas as "bulbs" -- this drives me nutz. They aren't really bulbs , are they? Thanks for your help and guidance. Glad to see this forum is st...

Thanks, Jane! I've done only a little online research and never saw anything about the blooms growing only on vertical canes. Very interesting information. I bought an Iceberg climbing rose - several websites mentioned how hardy it was - and that it was fragrant and a continuous bloomer. Just what I...

Climbing Roses Help
First of all, I know nothing about roses.... but I have a new arbor with a porch swing and I'd like to have a climbing rose on it. Do all climbing roses need to be cut back every spring? I remember my mom had a yellow climbing rose when I was a kid and she cut it down to the ground every spring - an...

Got my order!
Kudos to Chris and Brian! I placed a small perennial order a couple weeks ago and received my plants from Hallson's yesterday. They are huge - and the roots are gigantic. :o The perennials I received from Hallson's were bigger than anything I could find in our nurseries here -- and a "bonus" plant. ...

Hi. I've never heard of Messenger, but I bought something called "Spray N Grow" last spring which is also a growth stimulator that you spray on blossoms, vegetables and foliage every few weeks. I had high hopes, but really didn't see much difference. Are you going to get some of this Messenger? If i...

Keith, diseased hostas are not showing up at just WalMart or other discount stores. They are being sold at the high-end, fancy-smancy nurseries -- in fact, those are the only places I've seen them. I don't know if the nursery owners/managers don't know about Hosta X, or if they are purposely selling...

Reynaldo -- funny you should mention the nursery in west Omaha.... the one with the Hawaiian name? We were there in May and they had one whole table of "rare speckled" Parky's Gold. Yeh, right... "rare" ????? It makes me angry that a reputable nursery tries to sell diseased hostas to unsuspecting cu...
