Re: Wedding quilt
Char, your wedding quilt is wonderful! I've not seen that block pattern before and really like it. What a very special wedding gift!

Re: An Invitation to Quilters
Jane!! It's so good to see you again! :D Fabric buying for 'future projects' has become a chronic disease for me, I'm afraid. Thanks for coming to check us out. I go by the screen name nor'easter over there, so don't be confused if you can't find me. Hallson's is the only place "where everyone...

An Invitation to Quilters
Hello all! It’s been quite a while since I’ve been to visit Hallson’s and the friends I made here. I’ve missed it! Due to circumstances beyond my control, I quilt more than I garden these days, though I’m hoping both of those pursuits can balance out more in the coming year. Spring is a long time co...

Hello Pia~ Here are a few more to consider. Cherry Tart - small, yellow/gold with red petioles, a fast grower - I've had this one for going on three years and it is just lovely (good job, Alttara!). It does not fade at all in my zone 4 garden. Old Faithful - large, glossy green, red petioles, near-w...

Hi Alexa. I got both Rachel and Regina last year at a local nursery, along with several others (I stopped in simply to get something as a birthday gift for a friend...like that had any chance of happening  ). Mine are quite similar, but Regina is more silver-bronze and Rachel is more greenish-...

Hello. I have Silver Scrolls and several other heuchs, but I am certainly no expert (they must have all gone away for the holiday?). I can only relate what happens in my zone 4 garden if that will help ease your mind any. Silver Scrolls has leaves about the size of Lime Rickey, on the smaller side w...

Very nice hosta, Chris. I like having a hint of the parentage in the name of sports in particular. No shame at all in showing who your kin are (like Wilson is from son of Will, right? ). And the light flash in the center of some of the leaves is very similar to the flash of a star sapphire. '...

Well OED, all I can say is...where you been! Took you almost 21 hours to git your haunches over here and take the bait. How do you ever manage to keep up with Thunder, oh great one? There are so many breeds that are being bred away from their function. Makes no sense at all to me, simpl...

  My devotion to herders, Shelties in particular, is pretty obvious I'm afraid. The handsome tri-colored Sheltie that took third in the herding group at Westminster (Am/Jap Grand Ch Pop Star SS of Northern Farm, CD) is kin to my beloved Meg. I liked everything in the group ring, except I...

Rocky Road Fudge Bars
I'm feeling 'chocolate deprived' so I'm going to whip these up and take them to work on Monday for a staff lunch we're having (that way I get to eat one and don't have to worry about eating them ALL! ) ROCKY ROAD FUDGE BARS BASE ½ cup butter 1 square unsweetened chocolate 1 cup sugar 1 cup uns...

The great thing about the herding group (my group of choice) is that you can forget to watch until the last hour and still see the whole group and Best in Show! Herding is always last. There was an article in tonight's paper about a whippet being shipped back to California from the show that e...

There is no such thing as a Diabetic Diet. The key is to eat consistent carbs, not necessarily low carbs. The Atkins diet is not the way to go, imnsho. Too much fat and not well balanced at all. Carbs are NOT the enemy for anyone, especially diabetics. Here's some nutrition info from the Joslin site...
