Hey blond Betty
,
If you want your GS to not suffer from any burn-out I would suggest giving it 2-3 hours of sun, either late in the day or early in the morning.
What do I use as my basis for this suggestion? Mostly my own experience from last year when my potted GS was in full sun from about 8AM-2PM and it started to suffer from burn-out by mid-late July. So, it was just a little overexposed and for this year has been moved to a location where it doesn't see much, if any of the noon hour sun. With your latitude and altitude your sun exposure for any given length of time will be significantly more intense than mine, so, if I have to reduce mine than your overall exposure should be quite a bit less than mine.
Conversely, if you tell me you have great success with a given variety with full sun from about 2PM onwards, I could probably get away with given it full sun including extended exposure over the hottest, brightest, most intense period of the day.
FWIW, the spot the GS was in last year has now been given to my newly acquired plantaginea Venus. From all I've read members of this genus as well as the derivative fragrant cultivars love the sun. Initially one of my Guacamoles was going there, until I sorta stumbled across this Venus with its much more showy flowers. I keep my fingers crossed that it likes the spot well enough to flower for me this first year.

No polar bears, but darn close

Against stupidity the gods themselves struggle in vain.
