A couple of Sagae's I have

Post by barbara »

I can never get a real good picture to show these guys off, but I'm happy with them this year. They've done good for me :D I have 3 in one bed, another on the hill, and half of one under the cedars, which is the smallest, but great nevertheless. What a wonderful hosta! Hope you enjoy! :D
(o.K. 2 for now , have to resize the other pic's  )

That is what I would like mine to look like eventually.

Nice plants.

YIKES BARBARA!! They are huge! What specimens they are. They would certainly attract my attention walking by. Good job!

Wow!!! Such beautiful huge plants you have, my dear!!! I enjoyed your pics, but it also made me miss my huge old clump that died a couple years ago. I have a new one, but I'm a little nervous about it. I got it at the grocery store in town, and I have it way off by itself, just in case it has the X virus.

Thanks! Linda, I am still nervous about these every year! My original Sagae, which I lost yrs. ago, was a division off of a mature plant, did well, and the year it finally decided to really multiply, it rotted on me  After that I bought every Sagae , with size, I could find...well, bought 6 at least. Lost one again, gave one away(hence , the half ) and so far so good with these, but anxious each Spring to see them come up.

Gosh, those are simply stunning!!! I thought I may have been overdoing it by having 3 Sagae, but since you have 4 guess I am ok (hehe)! Mine have a mere 6-7 eyes each, but are 3’ across already...can hardly wait until they are as big and beautiful as yours. So, how wide and tall are those?

This hosta is one that even non-hosta folks notice. My MIL (with dementia and a complete lack of gardening interest) keeps telling me “I like that one!” right before she accuses me of moving it around to hide it from her - because it is in a different place each time she looks (I have 3, and she is looking at a different one each time). I guess that means it truly passes the 10’ rule...even she knows they are the same hosta that “she likes”!
