Secret Trade Received
My Hallson's secret trade arrived today. The mail lady hand delivered it at 9:45am and then opened the large pkg and found H. Valentine Lace and H. Just So. and the surprise was a H. Jimmy Crack Corn sport, which the senders named H. Jaybo. It looks much like the picture of JCC and such wonderful large divisions with lengths and lengths of roots.
Many thanks to mlp (stage name) Marcia & Greg. You did well and I did not have any of those. Isn't it wonderful how things work out? Also included with the trade a wonderful photo of the senders hosta gardens. Just so well organized and I enjoy looking at others gardens. Thanks and they all were planted in our gardens within an hour after they arrived and in time for an inch of rain here in east central Iowa.

Duh!
I meant to say a big thank you to Roxanne when I posted before but I was so excited about all my new goodies that I just plain forgot! My mind can only deal with one thing at a time and it was all on my hostas!
Thank you so much Roxanne for organizing this secret trade!

Pat,
I'm glad your hostas got there so quickly, and I am sooo relieved we were able to send you something you didn't have already. I have to admit I was hoping we wouldn't send you any duplicates. I did a search to see what hostas you might have mentioned. Each time you mentioned one we didn't have I thought, "Yeah, the odds are getting better".
It really did work out well. You even got an inch of rain to water them in!

Oh, my goodness!!!! My secret trade is here!!! Before I tell you what I got and who it came from, I have to tell you how it got to me.
Yesterday (Friday) I was just sure it was the day my package would come. I was out to the mailbox several times checking, and there were no tire tracks in the gravel leading to the mailbox. DH went out several times, too, as he was expecting a check in the mail. I was upstairs watching the storm coverage (worrying about Jamie and his family), watching the sky, and watching for the mail person. (Okay, maybe I did drift off for a few minutes, but not for long!) No sign of her. I thought maybe she was late (we have a sub this week, so it's hard telling). Finally about 6 last night DH and I both gave up and decided that we didn't have any mail. There is rarely a day that we don't get at least one piece of junk mail, but it does happen.
I went to bed, got up this morning, puttered about doing odds and ends, ate lunch and headed out to the car to go to my grandson's ballgame (which was cancelled, but DD forgot to call to tell me). There, on the front seat of my car, was a big box, and also the check DH had been waiting for. I tossed my purse on top of the car, opened up the door, and sure enough, it was my secret trade. It had been sitting in the car, outside, for 24 hours. (We live in the country, and I just don't lock the car doors..usually it's in the garage, but I had to get the lawnmower in quickly to get it out of the rain, and didn't put the car away).
Fortunately, the sun hadn't been out much today. Due to that and the excellent packing skills of my secret trader, the contents were in fine shape and are now awaiting planting.
Also, if I had gotten the word that the ballgame was cancelled, it would have been several more hours before I got in the car, during which time the sun came out and was beating down unmercifully.
Oh, did you say you wanted to know what I got?
Inside the big box were 4 wonderful plants from Marvelous Marlys (and Trudy). I've made a trip to town, run errands for my dad, gone to the grocery store, and my heart still hasn't calmed down. In the box were nice big divisions of:
War Paint (Sport of Niagara Falls): At the very top of my wish list! WOOHOO!!!
Paradise Backstage (sport of On Stage): One I didn't know I needed until I saw it. One can NEVER have too many plants from the montana family, and this one is a beauty.
Bizarre: One I had on my list to order that just barely missed the final cut this year but was going on next year's order list.
Forest Shadows: One I have, but I just cut a chunk off for a private trade with Renaldo, gave another chunk to my daughter, and completely forgot to save one for a friend who wants it. So...this one will go to her.
Thank you so much, my Marvelous friend!!!!!
And thanks, Roxanne, for doing all the work of organizing this trade.
Off I go to plant hostas~~~~~~~~

Thank goodness you found your secret trade box when you did.
War Paint is an awesome plant. It's a favorite of Trudy's & now mine too. I got one from Josh last year and had it in a pot all season. It was so beautiful and now is lovely in the garden. You will love it! I didn't know it was on the top of your Wish List. How Fun!
I feel in love with Paradise Backstage @ first sight in Trudy's garden. It is my new favorite. I like it almost as much if not more than the one & only On Stage.
Bizzare is really the coolest color
with such a bright white little narrow margin. I bet it would be great in a pot too. I really like it too. Almost kept it myself.
It looked so nice sitting out here with other potted plants under the deck.
Forest Shadows Trudy chose but I really liked the green-on-green and it was so sweet I almost kept it myself too.
Like Reldon said, "Trudy is a sweetheart" to help me out again. Thank you, Trudy!
Oh, Linda thank you for your kind words. I am looking forward to meeting you at the regional convention in July. I all ready feel like I know you. I was so happy to get you for my secret tradee.
Oh, and I'm hopeful that I am the one to get Wanda for my secret trader. I still haven't gotten any plants in the mail. But it really is great fun to give.
Enjoy,
MM

What a nice surprise I received last night! As I pulled up the driveway, I saw a red-white-blue box sitting against my front door. I quickly shut the car off, closed the door and ran for the box. Got the box, but had to go back to the car to get my purse and keys to get in the house.
As I opened the box from Scrappinmusicmommy (Aundrea), I just got so excited as I had never heard of the first one and the second one made me want to sing the happy tune!!!
The first one is Rippling Rhythm (a Savory introduction) with wonderful green, ripplying leaves…beautiful! The second one was ZippityDoDah….my, oh my, what a wonderful day! This is another green ripply one, but it has creamy edges to it.
Thank you, Aundrea…from Duluth…for these wonderful hostas. I do not have either one and am happy to include them in my garden. Thanks go to Roxanne for organizing this.
They are beautiful…

Jill,
So glad they made it ok....I was so nervous this being my first trade and all. I just recently bought the Eola salad bowl thought it was interesting with the waves. But they it's starting to flower and the pet's are almost black...It was a surprise to me. So I hope it grows well for you to. Glad you like the Gypsy Rose and everything else. Let me know how they do for you. Thanks again everyone for making this forum so fun.

I got mine! The triangular box arrived Thursday.
Newhostaaddict sent me three beautiful hostas: Salute, Pizzazz, and Crusader. They're all happily growing in my back garden now.
There was also an extra bonus - a "garden snail" ornament which is climbing one of my houseplant pots.
Thanks Jill! And thanks Roxanne for all of your hard work organizing this.

I just received my box from Dori/Not Martha and I love it all. I am at work and the girls and myself thought it was like Christmas only better because I got HOSTA'S
Anyway Dori did a great job. How did you know I needed small tags for the new minis in the new Hosta bed???? I don't have Wide Brim,(mine bit the dust), I don't know if I have Gold Drop, but this one will go in my new bed. 2 unknowns that will be special from Dori, Lemon Lime I have but did not want to divide it for the new bed. The Twilight is very big, it will go out front with my 3rd try at Morning Light. I love Astilbe esp pink that will look great among the hostas, then I will spray the Messenger over the whole bed with Dori's special blessings and I will have great hostas to show everyone. Can you tell I am excited. This is so much fun. Anyway THANK YOU Dori/NOT MARTHA I LOVE THEM
tHANKS Roxanse for doing this it is great fun to share with all of you. Guess I'm not so new to this anymore.

Reldon, you were most generous
in the Hosta you sent for me. I will forever be in your debt, you WILL get Iris this fall when OC has them lifted. Joy put it in her date book in August, and that means OC will get reminded every day UNTIL HE DOES SEND -SHE'S so good to me-Glad you like them Karma OC
There may be snow in the garden, but there will always be eternal springtime in the heart of this old gardner - Saying of Old Coot
Mine just got here and all I can say is...........
YIPPEE YAHOO OH YEA WHOOPEEEEE
OH MY WORD! Ruby42 totally rocks!!!!!
She must have not only memorized my written list of "wishes" but she read my mind and included some that I wanted to add but haven't updated the list yet!
When I opened the box, a couple of nice sized divisions wrapped in newspaper slid out, then a couple more, then a couple more, then a few more! Like OMG!
I started with the smallest first... then on to the big guys:
Heuchera CHocolate Ruffles - I looked at this one over the weekend and at the last minute decided to hold off to see if it came down in price since my local nursery had it a little high. What are the odds?!?!?!
Swirls - Like OMG I love the little streaky ones!
Lakeside Surfrider - Huge, Ripples, Gorgeous, what more could you ask for!
Magic Fire - Sagae has always been my favorite hosta ever, but several people have told me to try the sports from it - they will knock your socks off. Well, Magic Fire has been on my wish list for a couple of years for that reason. I also want to start a new "Fire" themed bed and this will be the cornerstone of it!
Fire Island - I added this one to the wish list this year because it is sooooooooooo bright and such a beacon in the garden. And oh yea, it fits into the "Fire" theme too!
Guardian Angel - This is pure drama! I absolutely LOVE the photos I've seen of it and can't wait to put it in the garden. What a gorgeous plant!
I am absolutely thrilled with each and every one of them - thank you so VERY much and a HUGE thanks to Roxanne for her organizing skills!

The Hosta Gods have smiled on me TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I pulled into the drive after a loooooong day at work, picking up my Grandson for a evening of babysitting, picking up my car at the shop for a much needed repair...and what is leaning on my front steps not one but 2 BOXES!
Be still my heart. Well needless to say my pity party I was having for myself ended right there.
(Just had to use the bday drunk)
Pauhaus is the GREATEST bar none
We rush inside to inspect the booty
First a Heuchera=Snow Angel
Then an Astilbe-Lilliput I have never seen this one also
On to the main event:
Queen of the Seas WOW!!
Lullabye WOW!!
June--I was just trying to figure out if I should divide the one I have with 2 little eyes so I can put one in a shady spot. How Great is that
Baby Bunting--Gotta love that one
Illicit Affair- way
and maybe the best of all a Stingray seedling that Paul grew from seed two years ago. A reminder of my first secret trade!
They only thing I have with ruffles is a scrawny Sea Octopus and PUDC. So this is gonna be great!
THen if that isn't enough he sent garden gloves and some neatl copper garden markers.
Now I have to decide on who is going where but I have some spots in mind already. They are getting a drink right now and after supper I am getting one too
Paul did anyone ever tell you You are the Best--You are you know.
Thanks for making my first Trade so Great and thanks to Roxanne for all her hard work.
This was worth the wait and beyond all of my expectations!
(He went shopping at Hallson's so you guys know these are some good looking plants) Thank you guys too!
