We got our secret trade today!

My 3 year old grandson was here when I opened the box and he got all excited and started yelling "Leaves! Grandma, you got leaves!"

Our secret trader was Stephanie and she set a box stuffed full of all kinds of goodies. (Thank you, thank you thank you! How in the world did you get all that stuff in that box?)

She sent:
hosta Whiskey Sour
hosta Royal Flush
hosta Second Wind
3 different persicarias
red astilbe
lemon balm
purple Siberian iris
purple leaved violet
Japanese painted fern
early blooming red daylily
geranium Confetti
seeds for birdhouse gourds

Everything is soaking right now, and as soon as the grandkids leave I will go right out and start planting.

Thank you again Stephanie, and thank you to Roxanne, too. This is so much fun!

You're very welcome Homer! I'm so glad you like them. :D I was a little worried that they might be damaged in transport because of the snug packing.

I planted Komodo Dragon and Niagara Falls too close together and one of them had to move. When I saw KD on your wish list, I no longer had to think about which one it would be. I didn't even have to divide it. When I lifted the clump to wash more soil off of the roots, there was a chunk that was already broken off.

I bought two Clifford's Forest Fires from Chris last year and I thought that fit the bill.

When I saw the crinkles on the seedling this year, I thought you might like that one. I decided to split it and send half to you.

Enjoy them! 8-) I hope they get enormous.

Secret Trade received in Indiana!!!

Post by spencer1400 »

A very large package arrived at my office on Friday. Debbie McAfee of Tulsa, OK sent me the following hostas:

1. Pathfinder
2. Tokodama Flavocircinals
3. Gypsy Rose
4. First Frost
5. Heuchera-Crimson Curls

The folks on this forum are so generous. I plant all new plants in a beginners bed so that they receive extra attention until they establish. They look just great.
Thanks, Debbie, for your wonderful gift.

Got MY trade potted and hand delivered! Judi brought me a large Savannah Supreme and a huge Spinach Patch (didn't know they were a large, just liked the form). Both were on my wish list, with Savannah Supreme at the top of the list. She also brought a nice healthy Argentia Silver Sage Salvia and a cute frog lawn ornament (that I was admiring while shopping with Judi - when we went together to a DG roundup in Madison last weekend).
Thanks Judi - great stuff.
Thanks Roxanne for organizing the trade.

What are the chances :) Mr. Ron had my name for 2 spring trades in a row.....

I was so excited to break into that big yellow box....I got:

Ginko Craig
Wolverine
Lakeside Masterpiece I do have to say that these hostas had the funkiest ties on them...purple and blues my fav colours.

He also sent along 2 cute butterflies, I will have to get these out into my beds as well.

I have them in their new beds and are being watered as I type...

Thanks for the great trade hostas Ron and to Roxanne for setting up this trade.

Today when I got home from work there was one of those priority mail boxes sitting on the front porch!! Yay!! Always so exciting opening them to see what's inside.
Spencer1400 sent me five hostas from her garden. She was aware that I am having "space issues" , so kept them all on the small side. (thanks, Jane, for being so considerate!) She sent me:
Geisha
Heartsong
Ice Cream
Queen Josephine
Lakeside Lollipop

All were very well packed with roots that were still damp. The Heartsong has a scape with a bud getting ready to open! I am currently soaking their toes before I pot them up. Then I will be making a new bed for my minis and smalls and they will find a more permanent home there.
Thank you, Jane, for the wonderful secret trade! (and congrats to your daughter on her graduation!)
:D
And a BIG thank you to Roxanne, for organizing the trade! It's been so much fun reading all the posts and seeing what everyone has received and sent. :D

Part II of my trade came today. As if part I wasn't enough :)
LucyGoose sent some hosta via Hallson's early in the trade, and today I received a bearded iris, some soaps and body lotion, 3 different groundcovers, a really cute garden stake, and best of all, a daylily named "Papillon'. LucyGoose and I both have papillons, and she bought us each one. I can't wait to see it bloom, as it looks like a beauty in Tinker's database.
Thanks again LucyGoose, it was a wonderful, generous swap for me, thanks to you!

Enjoy the iris next year and the daylily I had bought/ordered thinking I was going to send it to you anyway....I am not here as much lately because of working with Willie..... Pia told me to get rid of him .... I hope the daylily does well for you, too!!
