I received my secret trade today from LisaO :D . Lisa sent me Striptease, June, serendipity and Hadspen Blue. She also sent me 3 companions plants Fuschia Spiderwort, Wooly Thyme and Penstemon.

Thnaks Lisa! Can't wait to get them in pots or the ground. I know what I'll be doing tonight if the kids cooperate.

What a wonderful way to end a busy day. Mary (Pandora) sent 3 beautiful hostas and a variegated geranium. I have Christmas Candy, Blue Jay and Fire Island. These are all new for me. Thanks so much, Mary. I think you are right, we have traded before! Have a great day.

This gal was doing the happy hosta dance at work and everyone was staring at me. I was gone until this afternoon to a meeting about our software programs. We just converted to a new software company and I have put in allot of long stressfull hours trying to get things smoothed out. Anyway when I came into my office I had this great box from hostamom.
:bd: This is better than Christmas, they all all that I don't have and I love them all.
She sent me Red Hot Flash, Summer fragrance, Diana Remembered,(what a huge plant) Chelsea's Babe, & Lakeside Miss Muffet. I was just reading my hosta finder last night and saw that there was one named Chelsea's Babe, I couldn't believe there was one with our towns address as the name. Then Marsha sends it to me. Marsha you sure made my month. I have a great spot to plant them in and I sure will enjoy them. Thanks so much. :D Also thank you Natilie for doing the work.
What a great forum this is. Now I just hope my ST is happy with the package I sent.

maidofshade (Cheryl), I hope they grow well for you! I couldn't believe that I actually had 2 that you didn't, and one that was on your "want" list! And I just couldn't resist sharing the Bleeding Heart. It finally took off and grew well, (after I put it in a bit of sun!)
Thanks Cheryl
And thanks Nathalie

Oh I'm so glad you got them, no broken leaves? I was so nervous sending such larges ones. But I'm glad they made it and you didn't have any of them. Please enjoy especially Alex Summers, it's one of my favorites.

Hi SUEDIA, oh, yes, I am! I received your package today. When I came home tired after long hours of work, I found it by the front door. I saw the green Delivery Confirmation sticker and immediately knew it was the Secret Trade! Thank you for digging them up in the rain for me!

SUEDIA sent me:

Dew Drop
Lemon Delight
Lemon Frost
Ogon Tachi
venusta

and companion plants:

Sedum
Ajuga Chocolate Chip

Mini's and Japanese varieties (including species) are what I am adding more to my collection these days. How did she know that? I am excited about the new addition to my collection and the companion plants. Thank you so much, SUEDIA! And thank you, Nathalie, for organizing the trade!

THANK YOU, Pat ~ PAtrushka!

I was thrilled to receive a box of hostas this afternoon, each one new to my garden, and very beautiful:

ROCK PRINCESS (possibly the same as venusta? seems smaller and with pointier leaves though.)

HEART AND SOUL (gorgeous)

CREPE SOUL (adorable)

PURPLE LADY FINGERS (one I have been wanting)

I will enjoy finding the perfect place for each of these new additions.

Thank you, Pat, for your thoughtfulness!

Mikky,
Soooo glad you like them. Your website really scared me about what to send you so you wouldn't be disappointed in what you recieved. I really studied and gave it allot of thought, printed you hosta list from your website and walked around my hosta. I hope they arrived in good shape. This is my second year for Secret Trades and I have allot to learn yet. The mini's seemed to fit with what you already had. The Ogon Tachi is really a bright gold and grows pretty fast and the scapes are very tall. We seem to have allot of the same ones and mini's can fit in anywhere. The sedum makes a fast clump, just put it down and it doesn't even mine getting stepped on. Not to evasive either. I understand about the long hours at work and coming home very tired. It was great to get mine today also and make a bad day at work at nice gift from a hosta friend.
Enjoy,
Sue

Jane, I am so glad you like them.

Here is my confession..... I wrote the wrong name on one tag. It should be 'Fantasy Island', not 'Fire Island'.
I just got it from Chris this year (you can read my post a while back).

For some reason I thought I wrote it wrong after it was on its way. Sorry.

My box of hostas came today and I LOVE THEM! This was my first day off for the summer so I was able to open the box the minute they were hand delivered!

Jon (JJR) was so generous with his trade and they were all new to me! He sent me:

Cupid – it is the cutest-little-streaked-ruffly leafed hosta.
Kinba – It has a different colored green leaf- it just glows- with red petioles! Nice hosta!
Swoosh – This is a beauty of a streaked hosta and a nice division.
The Razor’s Edge – I have admired this one since the first time I saw it! It is a little hosta with long green ruffled leaves and red petioles!!

Along with these, he sent me a few Japanese Iris that he grew from seed. This will be fun to see if I can keep them growing…hopefully I will.

Thank you, Jon, for your generosity! They were packed perfectly, the roots were huge and they are having a drink so that I can pot them up tomorrow!!

Freaky, I'm so glad you got the package, and that they were new to you. I thought it was kind of funny to see the giant one next to the mini, too! But I have to admit, I didn't think of Spike and his little friend.....
I had a couple of plants of Bigfoot growing out in my former veggie garden in full sun. I divided one last year and lined out the eyes, so it's a division of a pretty good sized plant. The one I planted out in the shade is enormous this year, and is a better blue color than the one you have that was in full sun.
Sadly, my little Baby Cola did not make the winter after you sent him to me. Poor thing. No doubt he would have been a strapping big lug by now if he had survived.
Hope your new hostas do well for you! It was a lot of fun walking around carrying your list, and trying to decide what to send you. I was really glad that I had a few that weren't on your list already.

I got my trade today. When I saw the box I was soooo excited. :D TwoBlackDogs (Lela) sent me

Xanadu- To help finish my alphabet. Now I have an X
Robin Hood
Key Lime Pie
American Icon

I am very pleased with these. They are very large divisions. I am creating a new bed, so these will have their new home very soon.

Judi,

I'm glad you like the plants I sent. You have quite an extensive list so I had to go around the garden for a while to see what was not on the list and what I had that may be a bit unique.

I love the two small ones I sent. As soon as I saw The Razor's Edge it went on my want list... I don't believe Cupid is registered, but I love the wavy, streaked leaves.

I have no idea what the iris will look like. They should flower next year.

I hope everything grows well for you.

John,

I'm glad you like what I sent. :D I'm also glad to hear that ROCK PRINCESS looks different.

It's a good thing that I got PURPLE LADY FINGERS off to you when I did. I noticed yesterday that the rabbit/rabbits have been munching on it.

I hope they all grow well for you. I love all of them here in my gardens.

Jim,

I'm so glad you liked your plants! I noticed you liked big hostas (as do I) but there's always a place for minis....in front of the big ones!

Enjoy...

And my paper is progressing very nicely, especially since it is due a week from Monday! Thanks for adding to my homework post.

sorry it took me so long to reply, the hail did some unknown damage to our cable box that we didn't know about knocking out our cable with the rains we had, therefor our internet and they couldn't get here until today to fix it. And the note Ellen "freakycola" wouldn't have been any justice if I did it at work , because they don't like us being on the forums, would have been short. So hopefully it was worth the wait for you as It was for me. It gave me a smile and some hostas without holes
Ellen writes:
First I was going to send you stuff like Whirlwind, but I was afraid you wouldn't think it was very funny. Then I thought I'd send some dragon or alligator shoes since you like reptiles, but due to crummy planning on my part, I had to grab what I could.
First I went out and bought an Earth Angel for you.I figured you could use an Angel right now to guard your garden.
Next I picked one of my Favs, Invincible. I thought that would help make your garden stronger too.
Fall Bouquet: It has pretty flowers and gobs of them
Yellow Splash: A good pod parent for streaky babies
Last is my world famous Baby Cola. OK maybe not world famous, but there are quite a few all over the US. They're wild babies that grow in the sand between my sidewalk flagstone. This 1 looks like the mama is Elegans.

Then the funny part I can attest to my cats are the same way.

Your lucky you got these! My cat Bubber (what a name) loves hostas and always has to inspect my trades. Today he decided he'd love to eat the hostas. Luckily I was watching him before he took a bite out of Earth Angel.

Again sorry for the late post and thanks Ellen, you brightened my day.

Awwww Scott,
You brightened my day! Thanks for your kind words & not getting po'd at my quirky sense of humor.

As I sit here I'm waiting on the repair man to fix our AC which has been out for 5 days now. I don't mean to downplay your situation, but do you know how cranky people can get in 90 degrees with no AC for a few days? We're about to kill each other here.

Then DH takes the day off to deal with the repairman, who came at 7:30AM so guess who has to run to the door coz DH is still asleep? Thas right, me! I jump outa bed, throw on a robe & run to the door. The guy says sorry he's so early & I'm thinking I must really look awful! So now I gotta get ready for work & hope the repairman gets done before I leave coz DH is still snoring away.

By the way, were any of the hostas I sent new to you?
Ellen
