Hanky Panky - size???

Post by Louise »

I purchased 'Hanky Panky' last season. It has survived beyond it infancy so I am ready to move it to a permanent location. However, online descriptions are very inconsistent online regarding its mature size. Can someone give me the REAL FACTS on this hosta?

THANK YOU MUCH!
Louise (aka "Wheasie")

Hi Louise,

It gets about the same width as Striptease, so I would start with at least 24 to 30", more if you want to be conservative or don't want things to touch. It is a pretty fast grower and a good multiplier in my experience.

Hi, Wheasie! Good to hear from you. Hanky Panky has been a good grower for me, too. Mine is 5 years old,
and appears that it will be about the same size as Striptease, though I wasn't sure when I got it if it would ever get there!

Just wanted to say Hi, Louise! I saw a "Louise" in the members section and when I saw that she was from Northern Ky I did wonder if that was Wheasie....and lo and behold, it is! I won't put out a new greeting for you in the Welcome section, but I will say I haven't seen you in a while, so welcome back. :D

My Hanky Panky are right in front of my KFM. KFM is about twice as tall and the leaves are about triple the surface area of H.P. Both are the same age and Hanky Panky gets more light and water.

Just a point of interest. I have a few Hanky Panky (7). They all looked similar when I got them except for one from Victoria that had bigger leaves maybe 50% larger. It may have been a piece from a very mature plant. After a couple of seasons it looks like the others now.
