NEMATODES and Hydrogen Peroxide

Post by newhostaaddict »

hi,,,

this year I would like to try to get rid of these critters with Hydrogen Peroxide...

do you just saturate the ground with it or do you have to dilute it ??,,,

what is the process ??

thanks in advance,,,

Hi,

Hydrogen peroxide won't kill nematodes within the leaves. It will kill adults in potting soil when drenched, will kill some adults in the ground and kill them on the leaf surface, but won't do anything about the eggs or adults within the leaves. Basically it won't do much.

When you purchase it as Zerotol, a stabilized and highly concentrated hydrogen peroxide, you dilute it down to about the same concentration as you find in the bottles in the store (3%) so in theory you would need to drench the plants and soil with bottle after bottle of it, undiluted.

Combined with a late season removal of all the leaves and a thorough plant and soil drench you might kill off some of them but it is really difficult to ever eliminate them.

Hope that information helps.

Chris
