Please help me ID

Post by Kittenann »

Can anyone please let me know what the name of the hosta in the middle? I believe the one in the top right of the photo is Blue Angel. The one on the right edge was labeled Medio Varigatia. I think it is Undulata Albomarginata. The one on the left edge is Golden Tiara.

Clickable thumbnail.

P.S. If I am wrong about any of the others please let me know.

Has the center been the lighter color all spring? Do you know how old the plant is?

Could be a young 'Gold Standard'. The vein pairs are right.

I think I planted it 2 yrs ago. It was a little darker earlier this spring.
Here is a picture I just took. I set a Gold Standard that I just bought  next to it to compare.

Here is a close up of the leaves of the two plants. The Gold Standard is on the left.

The one in the ground has leaves that are more round then the Gold Standard I just bought. Are they the same?

I'd say they're both Gold Standard. The one in the ground is just more shaded than the one you bought has been.

That would be my luck. I see them in the store and think they look coooool so I buy them and plant them here and there. This year is the first year that I started to try to learn the names. I went around my gardens and took pictures to figure out what I have. I figured out either the stores around here only sell a couple of different kinds or I only like a few(I don't think this is the case  ), because I have 2 and 3 of about 4 different kinds. I am hoping to get to know the names so I don't do that as often.

The potted one has been in more sun.

The leaf shapes look different to me on the plants. The one on the left appears to have a narrower leaf w/ a sharper point to each leaf. Am I just seeing things (this is possible lol)?

As one is older than the other, it's possible they are the same. Some hostas change as they age.

I think Renaldo is right...I saw a pic of Gold Standard and it had both leaf types. I saw the pic after seeing this post, and thought, yep, GS!

Watch for HVX if still buying new ones...sorry to be a downer.
