Moving Iris

i discovered a clump of iris yesterday at a vacant house, soon to be leveled - i need to move these iris - these iris belonged to my grandmother - can i dig and replant at this time of year - do you have any other suggestions - thanks

Not ideal time to move, if they are tall bearded iris-- although the plant will be fine, you may sacrifice bloom. I'd get them now regardless, and take a large ball of earth if possible.

They will be just fine in your zone. No worries. Doubtful you'll see any bloom this spring, but they will live and grow just fine.

Oops! So the ones I just dug up for my sister and brother for this weekend, won't bloom hey? WIll they next year?

Depends on the variety. My English Cottage will bloom every year regardless of moving it or not, but my Indian Chief will take two years off if it is disturbed.
