Savannah is gone

Post by PEIslander »

Hi Everyone!!!!

I have not posted for nearly a year since I had to move all my Hostas. Some of you will probably remember me going on and on about my best friend Savannah. She was part terrier and
chihuahua. She was 11.5 years old.She suffered from diabetes but was under control.
Oct 19 I noticed she was coughing a little bit,by the 20th when I came home from work at 9.3 Pm her cough seemed to be worse.I finally decided to call my vet and arranged to meet her at the hospital which is only a few minutes from where I live.My brother was going with me.As I was going out the door she made a very strange noise like a cross between a cough and chocking. From that moment on she started to get weak.I told Alan to hurry because I felt she was dying in my arms. When we got to the hospital Jane asked me to put her on the floor to stand her up,she was unable to stand.Jane put her on the table and she said she had heart failure and her lungs were quite full. She died a few minutes later. We gave her a little stuff to relax her muscles.I did not cry until she was dead because I did not want her to hear me.I rubbed her until she was cold and then wrapped her in her favorite blanket and gave her to Jane.I had her cremated.

Two weeks later on Nov 2nd my Mom died. She was 86.She fell and broke her hip or her hip broke and she fell. She came through the surgery but took pneumonia and was unable to fight it off.

I thing Savannah new and did not want to be alone when my brother and I were at work.It was so unexpected because she still loved to play and was doing so the evening before.

Needless to say I am totally lost without my baby and my Mom.

Please keep me in your prayers because I am having a really bad time and I am trying to keep it from my family because they worry about me enough since I have a history of depression.

I am sorry to dump this on you but you were all so kind when I was a regular.

Thanks
Maureen

So sorry for you missing both your mom and your dogfriend in such short time have to be hard.

But somehow both died so fast it is a good way to go for them. I know it is hard for the left behind, but try to look at it their way.

When my old dog passed away I was sure I was not going to have an other dog... 6 mónths later I was offered the most beautiful liittle dog and i am so happy I accepted to have her. There is a new puppy or adult dog out there for you when you are readdy to get it.

Best wishes

Hi Maureen!! When I saw you name, I was like, WOW, I haven't see her is a long time!

I am so sorry about you mom and fur friend.....How sad! Do you have another animal? To lose a parent has got to be the hardest thing....I still have both, so I know when God calls one or the other, I will be a basket case for a while, too.....Let the grieving go it's course....I don't know what else to say......Pia is right about maybe getting another fur baby.....Are you able to care for one still? Wow, I will keep you in my prayers, Mo.......

Thanks Pia

I know in my head that is true.My heart is still sad.A friend has found a little Shitz Shu puppy but I do not think I want to train a puppy in the winter.

Have a great Christmas!! It is so nice to hear from my Hallson friends.

{{{Maureen}}} I too am so sorry for your losses. It doens't matter how fast or how slow one takes to pass on, we are never ready are we? My heart goes out to you, Maureen. Know that you are in my prayers and thoughts, too.

I like to think that my dad and a good friend are keeping my girls (2 cockers I lost) company (or vice versa) on the other end of that rainbow bridge. One day I will see them all and none will hurt from their illness and injuries and disease they had while on this earth. I know in my heart your Savannah and mom will be watching over you together.

Maureen - I'm so sorry to hear about your losses. It's so hard when the pain is fresh to understand that it will get better as time goes on. It will never go all away, but in time you'll be able to look back and remember the good things. I lost my mom when I was 22 years old, my grandfather two months later, and my aunt (my mom's sister) six months after that. It's been 17 years and they're still in my thoughts all the time, but now when I think about them it's about all of the positive things that they did for me.

Please know that you can come here any time if you need someone to talk to, we'll always be here with shoulders to lean on and ears to listen... (((((((HUGS)))))))))

You may think it is too soon for another fur-friend, but, it is also excellent therapy. You'll love them, and they will help you through your loss and depression. You really need another pair of 'doggy ears' to listen to all your concerns and pain. Don't wait too long. CHAR

Maureen,
I am so sorry to hear about your double loss. Don't worry about 'dumping' this on us. Many of us have walked that path of loss, both with pets and family.
I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
