As of Friday we'll have a new dog in our lives. He's a black and tan Dobie who was an owner turn in to the Doberman Rescue. 10 months old, full of pi** and vinegar and already named Dante. Since the original Dante has such a major place in our hearts, this one will be known as Deuce (Dante too). No doubt John will call him the Deuce Coupe!

He's a lover puppy, adores John and doesn't think I'm too bad. Pictures when he holds still long enough!

Beautiful, but Diva has him beat!

Can't wait to see pictures. Seems like it was meant to be for Dante Deuce to come and help fill the gap that losing Danta Uno has left in your heart and home. Hurry up with the pics please!!! :D

Congrats on the new member of your family!! We had two chocolate dobies when I was a kid. I always thought they were so fierce and mean befre we had them, but those dogs were total loverboys and the biggest cowards you ever saw. They always hid from strangers. It was up to the dachshund to protect the house, as he had no fear of anything. Can't wait to meet your new puppy and I'll bet Daniel will want to get down there and hike with the two of you as well. :)

"Full of pi** and vinegar." My favorite kind of dog. The high drive/energy dogs are actually the easiest to train with motivational methods. Deuce sounds like a winner to me!

Lucky dog...I just love Dobie's. My hosta partner in crime use to have two boys. Alex and Max. In fact they bought their house cuz they wanted a bigger yard for the dogs. Now that both have gone to heaven, I've been watching the rescue websight for another one for them. Because they have cats, I best find a little puppy so the cats can get acustom to'm. I too want to see pictures. May you have many years of unconditional love. Later, Love, Lisa

Great news. What a lucky boy he'll be to have a new home with you. My sister has Dobes. Her old Venus, who has been gone for years now, was the most lovable dog I've seen. When my sister's kids came along one by one, Venus took each one as her personal responsibility. She would watch over them, fret if they were crying, and stay right with them at all times when they were old enough to toddle around and then go outside and play. The only time she ever acted threatening at all was when someone came rushing up to the stroller to view the baby without asking her permission, and my sister was always prepared for that. Now she has two boy dobes to go with her 3-son household, Eli and Monte. Monte was a runaway who ended up on her road. She took him to work with her (she's a vet tech) and found out that it belonged to a client. The dog was a hostage in a realtionship breakup, and he'd had enough. My sister ended up with him, because neither of the participants wanted the dog, they just didn't want the other one to have it. Sad. Anyway, he has a great home now.

Congrats on the new guy in your life! Deuce is very fortunate that he will have such a loving home. Diva would love to have a puppy play date - I wish we loved closer.

I can't wait to see pictures!

Well, Deuce has fit right in already. Feels like he's always been here and his manners are much better than we were led to believe. He's been having a ball this morning running huge circles in the yard. So much so that he asked to go in his crate so he could take a noon nap! Turns out he's more like 9 months old, but he's so bonded to us after less than 24 hours. Tomorrow is beach day, Monday is hike day!!
