Mountain Laurel with two different flowers

I was out patching my rabbit barrier today - I found them frolicking in my yard and taking a lot of hosta leaves - not eating just nipping them off and I know they will go after scapes next.
Back in one corner I have a Mountain Laurel in full flower.
Here are the flowers on the front of the bush. Since I was crawling under the bush to patch the barrier I noticed the flowers on the back side were different. This is weird. I started to think the bush might had a graft on it.
The ticker branch on the right is the front of the bush with the darker flowers. Anybody run into this before? My Mountain Laurels have been in place for about 10 years. They were some of the first bushes I put in after setting up the garden. I have many different flowers but I hadn't noticed that back flower before. Now I have to check my other bushes.
