O.C.''s 05 Daylilies
O.C.''s 05 Daylilies
No, not yet, but he does have some on his deck in containers that are in the sun pretty much all day (when we have THAT much sun) and getty plenty of rain, that are coming up nicely. (Have coffee grounds in those containers)
But he found a picture today that explains where his wine and yellow DL came from last summer, that he found growing in the middle of a bed of pure old fashioned Orange Daylilies. Here is a picture of the way they looked 25 years ago at his mother's. He had forgotten that she had any of these until he saw the picture and recognized the old fence thatg separated her propery from the folks nextdoor....
Please ednjoy..............

OC,
Nice picture from memory lane. I was just reading someplace (I think it was the daylily robin.) about ground coffee for slug control.

THANKS
It was a beautiful sunny 60+* day today and Josh came over and raked all the winter leaves from off all of the beds.(Took him 4 hrs.) We looked at the daylilies by the drive way and the have STARTED to make their move. Looks like a good crop again this year. The NEW Dayliles I planted in the back yard last summer as seedlings, have REALLY started to come up. O.C. can hardly wait, but he knows THAT is another 2 or more months away. He will just have to content him self with his new IRIS, and if folliage is any indicator, there should be some real beauties in those beds..
Thanks for looking at O.C.'s PICTURES...............
That FUNNY and VERY FRIENDLY Old Coot saying, he SURE is glad Spring is finally here....For him

Remember Josh
He was out of school this week, so I wentg over Saturday and asked his mother if he could come over Monday and she said fine, since he was out of school, and while there O.C. got her to show him what is coming up that O.C. had given Josh to plant in his OWN yard. MERCY !! Daylilies up everywhere, Liliums up evey where, and Hostas to die for that I had given his mother several years b ack. I have posted pictures of each on the proper forum..
That FUNNY and VERY Friendly Old Coot named John, Saying he sure is enjoying this Spring weather, and all of everybody else's pretty Spring Flowers and especially the IRIS which are now BLOOMING !!

New Daylilies in a Clean Bed
Aren't they purty ?? These daylilies were planted as seedlings last spring in 2 gallon contains, several to the pot, and then last fall when the rains came back, O.C. and Josh moved them to their new home, a new bed. Last week, my Grandson Danny, cleaned all the weeds out of this bed, put new dirt on it, and Josh put new mulch around them. We have had several light rains since they did that and they seem to be ON the move
They All are name daylilies and O.C . THINKS he knows all their names..................
That usually Funny and always VERY Friendly Old Coot, named John, REALLY enjoying Spring with all of God's pretty Flowers........and TODAY glowing with pride at the new ones blooming in his yard and on his deck !!!!

That sweet Lucy Goose
Sent the Old Coot a DOUJBLE DAYLILY name Scatterbrain. She said that name was well suited to us both she thought, and correctly so, on O.C's part. (has a bunch of senior moments all the time) She had one bloom last summer in her yard and sent him one for his new DL bed... AND she also sent him a pictures of it blooming in her yard..
Thank you again Lucy...for BOTH the Dalilies AND the picture shown below

What John is trying to say, is that I sent him the daylily, Scatterbrain this week.....He's right about the part that the name suits us well....

Enjoy, Coot!!

Here is the picture Coot was trying to post, that I sent him to show him what it looks like....

O.C.'s '05 Daylilies
ae now just as full of pods getting ready to bloom as they could possibly be. Only problem, O.C.'s Camera is at the shop, so he is using his dslw's instamatic. so it will be awhile before he can post.(Sure miss taking and posting the same day) My Stellas are rerally blooming. Bestg bed I have ever had....
For LUCY: the Dayliliy you gave me has really taken off. We have had several nice rains and the weather has been relatively mild for us.So, nothing has burned up this year like it did last year.

O.C. has had another Senior Moment
And you say, SO WHAT IS NEW ???? HE HAS THEM ALL THE TIME. And you are so right, he does. What started this conversation was an attermpt by him, to remember WHERE he posted the mystery plant on his deck that came up in a pot of Liliums EARLY this spring. WELL, O.C knows you don't either and can't wait to go there (do you even remember when he asked what it could be, and you said CORN, It was too big to be a Daylily ? ?) Today the mystery has been solved. In the pouring down rain, on a 6 ft scape (measured it my self) that is almost a half inch around sat a banched DAYLILY. had three branches at the top.5 blooms on each branch. Man that Daylily loved that Black Cow in that tub. Liliums are doing really well in that tub too.....
On another front, O.C.'s Natural Orange Old Time Daylilies by his Driveway are starting to bloom. What a time to be without a camera. No word yet on when it will be back.

Well YOU be sure to post us pictures.
My Daylilies are winding down, and I only have a very few Liliums yet to bloom. This year was especially pretty for Red and Yellows. They all seemed more intense than in other years. This fall, after they go dormant, to move ssome of the brighter colored ones off my deck andd put them into the Country garden for next year..I have severfal bare places out there that would just be perfefct. And they will sure get a lot of SUN...
