Ok, well no one can pick just one. Can they? Here's today's additions to the garden.

WOW! Those are gorgeous. Esp. Raspberry Silk & Doodle Strudel! Very similar to one I grow called Brindled Beauty. They all have that awesome "brindled" look to them.

BillyB - that is a pattern called 'broken color'. There are even hybridizers that specialize in just that style and nothing else. One of my favorites is Minnesota Mixed-up Kid.

I may have to locate one of those for the show next year. We've never seen anything like that here in Middle Tenn. Looks like a subtle brindled and plicata mix.

Mike, I know I have seen Minnesota Mixed-up Kid either on the forum or on your web site. The "broken color" irises are really starting to appeal to me.

I've posted it here before - it has been a fave for the last several years. Superstition Iris Garden carries it I think. Mine came from Holly Lane in MN. It has a neat history in that it is a mystery! No one knows where it came from it has just been growing around MN for the last 30 years and getting apssed around. I believe it has formally been registered with the AIS now.

Yes, those are broken colors. I've got MN Mixed-Up Kid growing in my garden too. Mike is it supposed to be a tall TB or a short TB. This year mine looks like an MTB.

Oh well, with crazy temperature patterns, I had SDB's throwing broken colors. I took pics and called them the WANNABEES! Sea Monster, Tantara, and What Again! They were like little kids playing dress up.

Oh my, I love the first one! What kind of irises are these? I am not too familar with irises and only have a few. These are not bearded are they, they look different.

Doodle & Raspberry are what is referred to as Broken Color irises. There are many to choose from. One hybridizer in particular specializes in these. Here's a link to see more BC irises.
