"Heather" witch hazel?

Post by Becky in PA »

Hi--Has anyone heard of a witch hazel variety called Heather? That's all that's on the tag, and I bought two. I googled it and couldn't find a thing. They're for my front yard, and I'm starting to think maybe I'll try to trade them in for something else and look around for a variety that I can find some info on. Any advice? thanks,

I would keep it and maybe keep some notes on it. Then YOU can be the one to provide the information to others. I also tried to look for you, and so far no luck. However, you know it is a witch hazel, so the care should be pretty the much the same as for any witch hazel.
Before criticizing someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them you will be a mile away and have their shoes!

Well, I found out that my mysterious "heather" witch hazel is from a wholesale nursery called "Heather Farms Nursery. So I went to their website and found that they had listed a "hybrid hamamelis" but it didn't have a name listed. So I e-mailed them and they replied that " the plant is a hybrid hamamelis closest to an intermedia that is unique to Heather Farms Nursery. It blooms yellow then fades to red and some what fragrant in March."

So, sounds good to me; but I didn't realize that nurseries put out their own un-named hybrids . . . ?
