Not that many are still perfect, but...

Bue Chip
Marylin Monroe
Cho Cho Train
Striptease
Little Hobber
Christmas Tree Gala
Blue Arrow

and a few more.. June and relatives as mentioned and...

After nearly 2 months of rain... I am surprised 15 or so still look good. Thanks for letting me do a closer look

My list is nothing spectacular, just good looking, easy to find hostas:

Halcyon
Bressingham Blue
Fragrant Bouquet
Fragrant Fire (hard to find in my area)
Gold Standard

Diane, the only one on your list that I don't have is Rainforest Sunrise...what's that one like?
Heather
Hi Heather,

Rainforest Sunrise is a beautiful small hosta with an irregular dark green margin and very gold, almost orange center. It is still as pristine as it was when I first got it in early summer, though it has added plenty of new growth too. The leaves have nice substance so I guess it isn't attractive to the slugs and bugs. Just a gorgeous specimen! A definite must have.

hmacgarden, are you familiar with the Hosta Library website?

www.hostalibrary.org

Bob has pictures of a gazillion hostas on there...well, okay, maybe only 4000-5000...

Heather if I had to pick five based on your original question:
"If you had to choose only 5 of your favorites, that stand out in the garden, don't get slug holes, look good all season, and are still looking great now..... "

I'd have to say these five of mine are still looking very good as of today--

Niagara Falls
Olive Bailey Langdon
Moonlight Sonata
El Capitan
Squash Casserole

I have a few that still look so great they look out of place!! LOL

Robert Frost is just beautiful and about to bloom.

Lakeside Kaleidoscope, this is surprising cause I didn't think it stood a chance after the Easter freeze this spring.

Gypsy Rose

Alex Summers, both the one I got last year and the one from Charla this year.

Eskimo Pie, very small from the freeze, but looks great.

Thanks Diane, I'm adding Rainforest Sunrise to my growing wish list!
Thanks Charla, you reminded me to add the hosta library to my favorites list on my new computer
Debbie, Gypsy Rose is the only hosta my local nursery has that I don't...I've been waiting to see if anyone recomended it before I bought it...I usually stop planting at the end of Sept, but this year it's so hot,(26C, I think that's about 80F, yesterday) I might make this one exception.

Heather, here's a pic of Gypsy Rose taken yesterday. She was frozen when it was already up and I divided her for the spring trade. Many of my hostas look like the leaf you see in the upper left.
They are subject to HVX tho, so make sure your nursery has good stock and they know about HVX and how it's spread.
Click the pic twice!!

Debbie... It is a beautiful hosta... but it is not a Gypsy Rose.

Fact Gypsy Rose is ... in my opinion..ready for spanking here :o ... just a Striptease lacking the white Stripe =the issue making STRIPTEASE special.

Yours on the other way look like a mix of Striptease and Hanky Panky...
Never liked Hanky Panky. but if it wasn't for those strange borders.. I would beg you for a piece of yours... it is lovely :D

Debbie my Gypsy Rose looks like Sugar's, one of my Striptease is sporting to look like your photo and some of it's sporting to look like a Hanky Panky. I've decided not to divide it up and just let it do it's thing for awhile. If it was the only Striptease I had maybe I would be, but the other one remains, hasn't ever sported still is completely a Striptease.

The Striptease's each were bought at different Hosta places. The one place always cuts the leaves off completely when planting the eye is the one who is sporting. Whereas the other place places the eye and leaves in the pot. Both divide their eyes off mature plants.

Several of the ones I've purchased at the place whom cut off the leaves have sported. My Royal Flush sported 2 solid yellows eyes which I did divided imedately! No way was I going to let the yellow take over! :( When I lifted the Royal Flush the was the crown (cut off) under the dirt with the on one side the one eye of Royal Flush and on the other side with 2 solid yellow leaves eyes. Gosh I hope I got it all!

Removing all the leaves from individual eyes is a way to "wake up" a streaked plant who is stabilizing too. :P

Just walked around to see which ones still look good.

Top favorites

1. Royal Flush (even with hacking it up this year)
2. Fire Island (plus flowers)
3. Split Milk (from Hallson)
4. Hyuga Ursjira (plus flowers)
5. Stitch In Time

Not in my top (favorite) list yet not far behind.

1. Blue Mouse Ears (so cute and still dark blue)
2. Revolution
3. Hadspen Blue (both are still really blue)
4. Fragant Bouquet (plus with flowers)
5. Polor Moon
6. Inniswood
7. Hostier Harmony
8. Tokudama
9. Green Milk ( with nice some streaks Hallson)
10.Great Expection

The worst and always the fastest of my hostas that goes down hill every year starting the end of summer/ earily fall and if it wasn't for it looking so good (prettiest bright yellow color) during the spring and most of the summer, only if you remember to slug bait though out the season, I'ld throw it away! Sea Dream!!!

Sugar, my GR looked like that in the spring. When was your pic taken and does it still look like that?

I got my GR from a very reputable grower, so I assumed it was correctly labeled.

'Tardiflora' is in full bloom and at its very best. 'Lakeside Shoremaster', 'Lakeside Cha Cha' and 'Captain Kirk' are looking great, as is 'Red October'. 'First Frost' is looking good, too, but these are not by any means the only ones, just the first to come to mind.
