Lady Fingers
I just saw Lady Fingers for the first time and I want some! They seem to bloom in August here in OK. I know nothing about them so can anyone fill me in?

Re: Lady Fingers
Heck Karma I don't know
My neighbor had these really pretty pink flowers on top of really long stems and I asked her what they were and she said "Lady Fingers". The are about 24" tall or taller, I did not see any leaves on the stalk, and the stalk reminds me of celery
The flowers are pink and kind of ruffly.... Does that help

Re: Lady Fingers
Ya know, I just goggled Lady Fingers and they don't look anything like what she had. I don't think that is what they are
Any guesses on a plant based of the description I gave??

Re: Lady Fingers
My first thought after reading your description was: Lycoris squamigera - Surprise Lily, Magic Lily, Resurrection Lily, Naked Lady

Re: Lady Fingers
Ginger, you might find them under Resurrection Lily, Surprise Lily, or Magic Lily. Those are the most common names. They are often found in old gardens. When you search online, make sure to check for zone. I've seen red ones, and other colors, but they are warm climate plants and don't survive here in my zone 5 garden. (Not sure how they would do for you in OK) The only ones that work for me are the pinky-purplish-mauvy ones. I love them!

Re: Lady Fingers
You're welcome Ginger but I only knew because I got some from my neighbor many years ago when we still lived in Illinois. She called them Hardy Amaryllis. Mine are not blooming this year. Maybe it's time to divide them again. One year I was looking from the kitchen window and complaining to DH that they weren't blooming again. I went outside only to find them blooming away. They were hidden in a sea of Clara Curtis Chrysanthemums.

Re: Lady Fingers
Ginger, they grow well here in OK. I see them all over town. They have looooong leaves in the spring which die back in the early summer. Then in the fall the pink flower comes up. Suprise!!

Re: Lady Fingers
How pretty they are! I see they can grow in my zone also, so maybe at some point in time I'll acquire some.
And Ginger.....a very wise choice not to google Naked Lady while at work.
