Re: Daylily bed re-do
If they didn't get all the roots, they will be back next year. This Old Coot has NEVER been able to CLEAR a Daylily bed. For him they are sort of like Iris - they never die.....Why I raise them ..........Coot

Re: Canna Lily Wyoming 10/4/12
OC has always had good luck with Cannas and Elephant Ears. Down here we have to plant them the first year in early spring (usually about April) and fortunately they can survive our S>C> winters. I have found that if I plant them in the fall, they freeze and do not make it . With a season in the gro...

Re: Martagon lillies
OC has never had any luck with Martagons. Have tried several times, but they don't seem to like HOT weather either. I have always had good luck planting Asiatic and other Lilies in the spring though. The ones the kids planted for me last fall here in Union are just now getting ready to bloom. Can't...

To destroy Ant Beds
has anyone ever heard of putting "grits" (Cooking type)on an ant bed to destroy it ???? my son-in-law is trying that to see if it is true. Old Southern Wives tale says the ants take the " grits"   down into the nest, eat it, it swells up inside them, and kills them. Coot

Daylilies did not go well,as we had a ton of dain and hail early in June and July...........My tulips and daffoddills did well too - For pictures check back in the individual     flower sectio...

Re: OC's Elephant Ears
:D Old coot being honest, he has NEVER dug one up. We are warm enough here that they are considered perennenials. We do cut them down in the fall, but only to aboutg 8" if you cut them lower, they take too long to come back in the spring and don't make it until mid summer. Old cooot is still in Rock ...
