Re: Over 1000 varieties of hosta.

Still haven't got there. With the dry summer we've had hostas are the last thing on my mind. I've driven past it many times though.

Plumeria finally flowers.

This is the fourth inflo I have had on a plumeria, but the first to open buds as all the previous ones have been killed off by red spider mites.

All my previous inflos have been on digfferent plants, and this is one I grew from seed.

So, that's what it's called. I have one of those Party. I stole a seedling from a pot at my daughter's house, it has grown big now. I don't think that's what Shan has though.

I've got a few. Most were caught by a surprise frost last year, but some made it.

Ol' Dr. Fuchs got around, didn't he. I like those. (Blimey, look at the date, I've not been around much, have I).

Good luck with it, hope the seeds turn up some keepers.

Heat wave? We certainly didn't have one of those this year, it was one of the worst summers I can remember.

Re: Hibiscus trionum 'Simply Love'

It was sent to me as a perennial hibiscus. It didn't make it through the winter here, nor did any seeds sprout at the old house.

I have an inflo.

The plumeria plants I've been keeping in the house due to this awful cold summer have finally succumbed to red spider mite, so I put them outside yesterday in an attempt to kill the mites, I also sprayed them with an insecticide. This morning I looked more closely at one and found it has a cluster o...

Nice...the bud is almost as good as the flower. No sign of flowers from my seed grown epis yet, but they are only 4 years old.

I didn't dig mine up, but I did move house over 200 miles away. I'm not being much help am I. We had the coldest winter for years and snow for the first time in 18 years. I'd be very surprised if they or their seeds survived. I can't remember whether I saved any seeds as I haven't unpacked my...

Re: My poor aching back.

I enjoyed working in the park, I had to be there at 7:30 weekday mornings which was a jolt to my system, but I liked that time of the morning. The dog walkers were very friendly and we would chat. Once I got into a routine it was really good. The boss left me to do what I wanted and I ended up order...

My poor aching back.

Although all my back garden is lawn there was a weed patch, so I found it irresistible to dig it over and tidy up the edges where it meets the lawn. As I'm only here for a year or so I don't want to spend too much money on it so I bought a mixed bag of daff. and narcissus bulbs for £10.00 and plante...

Re: Almost There!

You don't need to, the frost did that two days after the photos were taken.

This was a cutting I bought from a local shop 2 years ago, this is its first flower.

Re: Almost There!

Here it is, it had 3 flowers when the wind knocked it over, and then the frost killed off most of the leaves, but some more buds are developing.

Re: Down sizing!

I left mine out all last winter and had a tiny bit of dieback, but having moved house to a supposedly warmer but wetter part of the country I'm having my doubts about it being warmer. It could be that now I'm an hour's drive from the sea it will be colder. I'm more worried about the rain making the ...
