A Scape???? Seems impossible to me, and I live in Michigan and remember a snow storm just a week ago last Sat. and Sun. My daylilies aren't six in. tall at the tallest, and it will be months before I see flowers most likely. Of course most of mine are midseason ones, so that's to be expected. I do t...

Very nice lilies dirtpig. I'm afraid mine are about done for the season. Now if they just come back at least as good as this year I'll be satisfied. Oops , I just remember my Formosa lilies haven't flowered yet and it shouldn't be much longer for them to open. I think they're one of the latest to op...

Sorry and I hope you don't mind my asking , but is the hosta virus a fatal type, or just one of those odd ones that causes odd markings and perhaps distorted growth. In other words, it won't affect your other plants, but if you're trying to give away , sell, or distribute the infected plants, they w...

I've never grown it , but it sure is a beauty!! It's funny to me that I don't see it more widely grown in this area, since it seems to do fine. I've only seen one planting along the edge of some woods, and it was beautiful. Wish I could make a "midnight" trip over there!!! Just kidding , but I don't...

I think the poor soil is the biggest problem, but also my garden to my dismay has pretty much been taken over by tree roots, and short of putting a very deep barrier of some kind around the perimeter, I guess the tree roots are there to stay. They can be dug and pulled out regularly, but just like t...

I think if you can dig them without cutting them you'd treat them the same as when moving spring bulbs after flowering. Just leave the leaves on if they're still green and let them die back naturally. You can wait til they've died back with the fall frosts and then move them also, as far as I know. ...

My lilies fizzle out !!
I've only had luck with just a few of the lilies I've planted over the years with one forming a large clump and growing to four feet in heighth for the tallest ones, but others have just gotten smaller and refused to flower. I know my hardiness zone shouldn't be the problem since I'm in zone 5-6, an...

The only problem I have with the Tradescantias is that they're so invasive, and near impossible to keep in bounds or to even remove. Miss one piece and it's right back. They sure are tough , if you love tough plants. Isn't the "Blushing Bride " the one that's supposed to have pink flowers? It looks ...

Relax Patrushka, I don't think it's unusual for the Buddleas to die to the ground in the north. It should come up from the roots, but in later spring. Too early yet , I think. I've always heard also they can and should be cut back even in the south where they don't tend to die back. The plants just ...
