Peggy - You will love Sunspot when it blooms. Mine is blooming now and the bright pink blooms against the gold foliage is stunning.
I will be anxious to see Lime Rickey bloom.
I've also added the Dayglow heucherella to my list - love those bright glowing blooms.

frosted tree leaves
Your trees will leaf out again for you. It will take a few weeks while the latent buds swell and open up, but they will be fine.

TMA - You know that hosta, daylilies, heuchera or whatever, can't be limited to just one!
I only have one more shipment coming in next week from a Region 2 fundraiser auction and I am done for the year. Except for the ones I will bring back from Mecca.

Ditto on the heucherella Sunspot - it GLOWS in the garden. I have it planted next to the lingularia that is dark green with the yellow spots and it makes a very attractive grouping.
If you like gold hosta, try Sunspot, you won't be disappointed.

Congrats OED - You obviously have a very intelligent dog but the secret to training a dog is - duh - a great handler/teacher. A dog is only as good as the teacher.

Ann - I am not currently showing or breeding and probably never will again. Back surgery three years ago made running around a show ring not overly comfortable. I do own the dog in the picture who is a top producer and used on occasion by other people. I also own his littersister, spayed because hub...

I was out strolling the garden inbetween rain today and checked on the demise of the Artemesia Oriental Limelight - HA! I still found bits of it in the rudbeckia and I looked down and growing out between several raised landscape timbers, there it was. There is a stem of it that must be 18" long, jus...

It won't be a problem - I think with a male, it is a game to see who can whiz the highest. Good for you in having your male neutered.

I am sorry for your bad experience with the breed but all breeds will on occasion produce bad temperaments. I have a cure for problem dogs and it is permanent. Hard to do, but ill natured pets are a no no. My pet peeve with pure bred dogs is to have someone call a responsible breeder, find out the p...

Since Paisley is a male - borrow another male from a friend and let the dog whiz all over the area where you walk Paisley. His manhood will be challenged and he will mark over the spot.

I am sure sorry to hear the bad reports on the temperament of this breed that people are experiencing, but this is not normal behavior for the breed. In fact, I consider the breed to be almost too sweet and cuddly and are happy if they can be lap dogs ALL the time. I have shown and finished many of ...

It wouldn't hurt to cover the scapes with a big pot because they (the scape) will die if they get frozen. The daylily foliage will be fine. The early scapes you are seeing are probably rebloom scapes from last fall that didn't have time to bloom last fall. PAPER BUTTERFLY is known for it's rebloom h...

Yes, I grow several - hope I can remember them all. S. DIXIE CHICK, S. PICOTEE PRINCE, S. CREME SUPREME, S. SEA SHELLS, S. LIL RED WAGON, LORI GOLDSTON, ALEXA KATHERYN and S. FANCY DANCER. I think that is the list. They grow well here and multiply at a nice pace, not slow but not so fast you have to...

I have had my tomato seedlings in my cheapo plastic greenhouses for weeks. The seedlings will be fine as long as the temps don't go below freezing. I did bring them back inside for two days while winter blew through here this week-end but they are back out now and will remain there unless it dips in...

They don't want you using your canine medication for your cat. The medication is absorbed into the skin, between the shoulder blades and I doubt if any cat will rub the dog in the shoulder area. The medication leaves a greasy type mark on the dog's coat but even that disappears within 24 hours. The ...

Gardendollee - ouch - nutsedge! Round Up will kill it if you use the stronger dosage but you might have to apply it twice to get the younger sprouts. Manage is also the name of a herbicide that will kill nutsedge. We haven't used it yet but it is designed to be used on lawns to rid them of nutsedge ...

In central FL, there are several daylily hybridizers within just a few miles of each other. May is the peak bloom time in FL and is the absolute best time to visit these hybridizers and see their introductions and even better, future introductions. It is so much fun to see fields of daylilies bloomi...

Yes, I have received my orders from Stamile, Salter and Kinnebrew plus auction wins from Boxcar and Earthstar. I have four more coming from the Region 2 auction and then I am done for the year - until I visit Mecca is three weeks.
