Charla, he is very handsome and loves his owner very much.
Animals add such happiness to our lives. And as I write this my very stand-off-ish cat Percy has climbed onto my lap and sat down for the first time in the two years since I've had him. Aren't they amazing?

I am graced with a large, south facing back porch. I hang 7 baskets on this porch every summer, always in flowering plants. However, I LOVE the Boston fern and this year I want to do my pots in green. I love the flowering plants but don't want to deal with the flower drop mess this season. I really ...

My Poorly Planned Hosta-scape
Hi Everyone. I have a dilemma that most of you will wonder "why didn't she realize this in the first place?" Call it overzealousness, call it denial about the bed's location, or just plain call it stupid. Anyway, the bed along the front of my house has a northeastern exposure. It was rampant with En...

Yucca Question
Hi Everyone. I have a question about Yucca. I want Joe to have two of these. He's wanted them for a long time so I'm going to get him two or maybe three of the yucca 'Color Guard' (from Hallsons.) My questions are.......how best do I plant them? And.......I'd like to make a little kidney shaped bed ...

Hi Andi, My cat Nick goes crazy for thyme, Mother of Thyme to be specific. He goes out in the garden and rolls on the plant and then falls asleep on it. I have heard that some store bought catnips are cut with dried thyme. Hope this helps and good luck with the project. I think it's really a cool id...

Oh so funny. I laughed out loud so loud that my husband came from the other room to see why and then saw Figgy himself and had a good laugh. Figgy looks like "whaaaaat? I'm just taking care of some personal stuff!" He's wonderful. Spider, you have the best sense of humor. Yup, I can see the copymeis...

Did I hear my name? I LOVE this post. Party, what great kitties. They are beautiful and I love your description of each one. They are as individual as each one of us. And it was so nice of you to take the time to tell us your full story. I lost four of my beloved kitties in one year so I understand ...

Oh, thank you all for the giggles. You all know what I mean then? Thank goodness I'm not the only one who spends an hour with the sweeper going over every conceivable surface only to find a giant hairball wafting through the house the second I put the sweeper away. Argh! Linda, I'm afraid that happe...

I've always liked squirrels. Would you believe I have none? We've lived here almost three years now and I've seen one or two a couple times. At the rate I feed our birds you'd think I'd have hundreds of squirrels. We live in the country and are surrounded by crop fields, however, just behind us, not...

I love these little guys too. I had a few pairs on my rural property until the farmer who owns the adjacent field did a bad thing. He had let the field go fallow for years and it was filled with brambles and small trees and shrubs. That's where I discovered the wrens lived. But last spring the farme...

Thank you Lucy, Ginger, eastwood and newtohosta. Poody is a real ham but he is an especially loving old boy and that look on his face belies his gentleness. Ginger, doesn't it always seem that the big Toms are the sweetest ones? At least in my experience it has been that way. I would love to see a p...
