Seedling issues

I don't know if you can see clearly by the attached photo, but there is one seedling in this pot of seedlings that is all white. It is like it has no pigment or chlorophyll at all. Does any one know what happened ? I am pretty sure it will croak  I don't think it is a water issue or a light iss...

Foxgloves are Bi, at least technically, but I have watched a couple closely for a couple of years and I swear they bloom for more than one season. If I knew how to send plants through the mail I would send you some babies, I have thousands. Good luck. P.S. I don't have any bunnies, but I would trade...

Foxgloves

The bunnies shouldn't be eating them, they are toxic to people and pets (digitalis, heart medicine, commonly called dig) But I don't know for sure, maybe rabits can tolerate it.

Foxgloves

Jane, Nope, They never need staking, they have a very thick and strong stalk. Those get 5 to 6 feet where they are and I have never had a problem with them. (they are protected from the west wind by the fence, I wonder if that helps?) They poduce millions of seeds you know. Is there a seed exchange ...

Foxgloves

Foxgloves seem to do best if the get mourning sun only. I have tried them other places but they don't do as well.
They like lots of water ! If they like the place they are in, they will naturalize, so move them around until they are happy.
My soil is sandy.

Nursery Beds

I am putting in some nursey beds this spring, to hold plants until I know where to put them, and to hold cuttings and plants that take awhile to mature. Does anyone else use these ? Looking for ideas, do's and don'ts. Is treated lumber OK for flowers, I have heard it is bad in the veggie garden. Tha...

You first put down one inch of sand, then the cable, then another one inch of sand. Make sure the structure can support the weight if your not putting it on the ground.
The sand helps to stabalize the temperature (it heats up slowly ) and destribute it evenly, so you don't get hot spots.

Poly

I don't know what it standard, but this is how mine is attached. It is very simple, and seems to work well. Mine uses 3/8" thick strips of plywood cut to 1/2" wide. These are screwed to the pvc pipes on the ends of the house only. Use 3/4" gavanized screws. The poly is stretched over the house and i...

Info

The PVC I used was the grey electrical kind, I think it is sched. 80. The original PVC was white and was much thinner. I think it was sched. 40. The heating cable is a 60 foot, 5watt per foot cable. Total 300 watts. I had a hard time finding info on how many watts per square foot you need for bottom...

Tidy

This may be a stupid thing to post, but it has helped me alot, in keeping down the mess.
This is a picture of two of my "washing machine" pans. I got them from Menards. They are about 3' X 3' and are perfect for potting up stuff and bottom watering. They cost about 10 bucks a piece. I need more !
