My very favorite--can't wait for this year's blooming season.
Thanks again, John!

In my garden it's Queen Josephine, hands down
A distant second is Paul's Glory followed by Guacamole.

Yes, I'm going to plant everything together. The house faces east and each bed is about 7' x 3'. She wants lots of different colors. I have three Krossa Regals in different areas. The one in the sunniest location is smaller than the others, but maintains its color and form without burning. She alrea...

I had my friend and her husband over last night for coffee and dessert and we did the garden tour. I managed to convince her against variegated when she saw Krossa Regal. Big, tall beautifull and free from my garden. It was a no-brainer. I did get a little put off by her husband saying, "No lilies, ...

Hosta Recommendation
A good friend has fibromyalgia, two weedy beds in front of her raised porch (4 steps), limited funds and loves my yard full of plants. Getting the picture here? Now you would think with close to 100 different hostas and lots of other assorted perennials I could offer her a satisfactory start for the...

Whew! I love the way Guardian Angel looks and am so relieved to hear it's normal. He is located in deep shade. He's sort of hidden behind a tall stand of hybrid daylilies from John. When people walk over to admire the beautiful terracotta coloring of the daylilies and notice Guardian Angel they are ...

Please tell me Guardian Angel is not sick
About 4-5 years ago I bought a Guardian Angel from Chris and Brian. Enormous, healthy, gorgeous plant. Every year it comes up bigger and better than the year prior. But every year it comes up completely blue. This is fine with me because I love the plant. Now this year it comes up differently. This ...

Brown edges
I dug up a daylily this weekend for a friend. As I neatened it up for presentation I noticed that some of the leaf tips were brown or spotted or had touches of yellow. Not the whole leaf, just the tips or last 3-4 inches. Maybe 6 out of 50 leaves.
Is this a soil deficiency or some dastardly disease?

Long's Garden in Illinois
Does anyone know anything about this nursery? I've been looking for plants with the names Ben, Benjamin or Emma in them.
Long's has a hosta named Purple Ben. On their website they have no mention of mail ordering.
Anyone know if they ship plants?

Hosta tango
When I first came down with hosta addiction I collected all I could in a frenzy of acquisition that lasted over 3 years. Then I took a deep breath, did some research and planted them into their "forever" spots, carefully measuring with mature size in mind. Yeah, right. Like Lisa, some areas were jus...

We have adopted my son's older pit bull, Sheena, who is a nice, docile lady. That is, she was docile until she learned we had a family of groundhogs living on the property. She spent 8-10 hours a day laying on the grass watching one or the other of the holes until . . . .BAMM! Killed one of the babi...

I hope someone knowledgeable answers you. I have hostas planted in the same spot for the whole 27 years we've lived here. They show no growth problems or signs of slowing down. That was a great part of my attraction to hostas--once planted you didn't need to worry much about them--forever. I'll be w...

The month after the main event regular hosta trade sounds good to me. 3 mini or smalls sounds like a good minimum. Good idea, John. I'm willing to host if this idea generates enough interest. I'll repost in June and see how many hands get raised. Otherwise, the four of us can trade amongst ourselves...
