Bert that looks just like pictures in one of the books I use for reference. 'A Japanese touch for your garden' I bought from the Japanese section of the Epcot Centre when we holidayed at Disney about 5 years ago. Its one of my favourite books. George thats beautiful. My pinus parviflora is about a foot tall at the moment. Not sure which one it is but it has needles on the trunk! will they fall off eventually? it also has candles on. I want to leave it to settle and try shaping it next year.

J that is great its so unusual. I think the only thing that you would need to do is keep the foliage pads trimmed neat. I would love one of those, a real focal point.
