Re: Sent down to the minors - part 1

jgh, after this weekend I understand what you mean. I had a yard sale kind of thing the past 2 days and as I walked around last night surveying the damage, I realized that I could actually enjoy the hostas that I have left a bit more. I guess since I don't have such a massive sea of hostas I can app...

I have frost blanket type things to cover my hostas with, but here's my question. If I cover them up and it's raining, when the cold/freeze comes will they just freeze to the plants? I mean, will I be covering them for nothing?

LMAO - I like the way you think, Chris! I think I bought Fireworks last year. We'll see if it comes back. I am *gulp* getting rid of most all of my gardens this year - no time and this isn't my home anymore. My parents don't want all of this - I foolishly always thought they would. That's what...

Oh, all of those pictures are pretty! I have one, but it's in maybe it's second year? and isn't quite so remarkable. I actually forget it's there - kind of hidden under a weeping redbud. I should probably move it to a brighter spot. I don't think I have a pic to share, but I'll look around a bit in ...

I received my package today, too. I was just stunned - pleasantly so, of course. I got so many goodies!!! Let's see - I got hostas Undulata Suji Giboshi (to add to my alphabet :D ), Amy Elizabeth, Stiletto, Lakeside Zinger, Tick Tock (so cute!), Ground Master, and Sea Octopus. Also in my box were pu...

For me, Femme de Joie is very tall and the stems need to be staked - or they will flop over sometimes - just be careful. It is, I think, my absolute favorite daylily. :D

I made a list on my web page, along with a note to my trader. I'm not worried about what I get. I'll be happy with anything. It's just fun to get a surprise package in the mail (that isn't ticking)! :D

LG, I bought one from a local nursery earlier this spring. I'm not sure if it will come back though (it was really inexpensive so I was guessing it was an annual) - or is it supposed to just reseed itself? kHT, milkweed is the common name for some varieties of asclepias. Or at least that's the way i...

This picture is a month or so old, but I just walked out and measured it. Looks like it's about 88" wide and 36" tall. It was kinda hard to get an accurate measurement though because of other plants being in the way. The ol' girl looks a little crispier now though - darn drought! ~ clickable thumbna...

Japanese Iris - fertilization question

Are Jap. iris heavy feeders? My foliage is kind of puny looking and has been all season. It's been rather odd weather here anyway, but I'm wondering if they need something special? The foliage is kind of yellow-green instead of a nice dark green and I didn't get much bloom at all. They are scattered...

MollyD, I think I found the thread from last year, when folks were planning things. Looks like Chris had a few ideas about hotels. Just ignore the dates and rates because they are last year's! Hope this helps a little in your planning? :) Link to thread (I think) http://www.perennialnursery.com/foru...

question re: Lakeside Shore Master

I picked this one up a couple of weeks ago, but I'm a little concerned. Is there normally some "bleeding" (for lack of a better term)? I'm attaching pics. I just don't know if this coloration is normal or indicative of a disease of some sort. I looked at pics at the hosta library and even consulted ...

Has anyone had trouble with Lakeside Shore Master? I'll take a picture tomorrow and show you, but this thread made me think of it. I do not know for sure that mine has it, but the leaf coloring seems odd to me - just bought this year.
