I'm using acrylic paint. I am spraying now in a box in my garage. But it still gets cold in there and I refuse to spray this stuff in the house. Even the low odor smells and then I wouldn't want any of that spray floating around in the air. I would show pictures, but I don't have a scanner or a digi...

Spray Sealers
I started doing rock painting and when they are complete, I've used an acrylic gloss spray sealer. However, now that it is getting colder, it is not the correct temperature to use these sprays. Most cans will say for best results, use in temps anywhere from 50 degrees and up. Well, it's in the 30's ...

I don't have a digital camera, but Jane, maybe some time I will just send you some pictures. I just sold one for $25.00 to a friends sister. I probably won't get any more requests. Now a days, people have to think about a rock versus a tank of gas! I just completed one for birthday present that is a...

Here is what I ended up doing. I am on my 6th rock. I make a pattern on paper and put a piece of tracing paper over it. I go over it with ink. then I take a charcoal pencil and go over that. I then transfer it to the rock. It isn't easy as most rocks are not completely smooth. I keep rubbing it unti...

Now I need help with transferring a pattern onto a painted rock. I painted the rock with an enamel paint. I had a difficult time as I couldn't get the print to adhere to the rock. I used a charcoal pencil to trace on the pattern and then turned it over and rubbed it onto the rock. There has to be an...

How to transfer design to the rock
I need hints on the painting of my rocks. I would like to know how you all go about painting letters on the rocks? Do you use a stencil, do you use a special painting pen, or just a brush? The I am working on now, does have small pits. I painted it first with an enamel paint. Now I am trying to put ...

I also started rock painting this last summer. I painted a lizard chasing a fly, two galiardias on a white background and am in the process of painting yellow roses on another one. I used the craft enamel paints. I then used a gloss spray as a protective finish. I used rocks that my family found for...

Creating a stained glass window effect
I have this crazy idea that I want to paint designs on some windows to make it look like stained glass. Is there something that I can purchase or make at home that can be mixed with craft paint to create the look of stained glass? If you use just paint it looks tacky. The small bottles of paint mean...

I also have questioned on how to go about painting furniture. If what you want to paint had already been painted with enamel paint, would you still need to sand? What would happen if you didn't? The top coat you say to use, do you put that on with a brush? What brand do people use? What weight sandp...

It's not dust. It looks like little speckles of water. When it comes to brushes, do you think it makes a difference using expensive brushes? I am currently painting a rock for a rose garden. I am using the Apple Barrel gloss paint. Is there anyone reading this that paints rocks? I could use pointers...

So if I get speckles it could be that I just need more layers? I've tired using a waving motion, but I wonder if you are spraying a wood object, would it be more noticeable? I also used a paint that is not a gloss, it is the regular flat finish. I know what you mean by messing something up by not ge...

Spraying a protective coating
I have trouble trying to evenly spray a clear coat over my painted craft work. I tried the clear gloss and had trouble with it looking speckled. I now tried the matt finish and have the same trouble. I tried to careful because I know you can use too much and it might look like it dripped. I gave my ...
