I planted dinner plate dahlias last spring (probably in May), and they just didn't do as good as I had hoped. So, I didn't even bother digging them up. I am in zone 5, and wouldn't you know it, they started coming up this Spring....all of them! I guess our mild winter saved them, but still! Anyway, ...

Mine does get a lot of sun, but we have had a cool Spring here in NE Ohio with a lot of rain and a couple of good frosts. It looks really healthy, so maybe I just need to give her some more time. :)

Thanks, again, Joan! But, in my book, you are an expert! What a list of hostas you have there. :)

By the way, I am in Stow.

Hello everyone: I stumbled upon this forum looking for an answer to a hosta problem. I hope to regularly participate! I have always loved gardening and flowers. Two years ago I moved into a new home with lots of beds to "play" with. I inherited a few dozen hostas (all the same kind, no idea what) in...

Those look just like the "mediterranean pinks" I have. At least that's what they were called when I bought them!

I also have a Sorbet Peony. I planted it in the Fall (I think) or '04. Last Spring, it was itty bitty. This year, it's about 1 1/2 feet tall and nicely filled out. No flowers. So, another year til I get flowers? What do you think?

Thanks, Joan, for the further confirmation from a fellow NE Ohioan! I "inherited" these hostas when I moved into my house a couple years ago. They are in all of my beds and do look very nice normally. I'm certainly no expert...I don't even know what kind they are! What is this second flush of leaves...

Chris, Thanks so much for your reply! This is a relief! We have had a lot of rain this spring (about 10 days in a row), and a few frosts. Then, we had a mini heatwave over the holiday weekend. Do you think I should try to cut off the bad leaves? In one case, the hosta just looked SO bad, I already j...

Hello: I am so glad to have found this forum. I have been searching the internet to find the cause of my hosta problems. These are not new hostas, they are about 8 years old. I have about 25 of these all throughout my beds and pretty much all of them have been affected. The "dots" are small and rust...
