Hi! Sorry about the pictures, I will add them as soon as I can. About the Pieris, what kind did you try? I noticed that the "Mountain Fire" are the best and hardiest, and also the prettiest. And there is something "asian/japanese" about this tree, that I can't seem to put my finger on. I really love...

Hi! That looks great, but I need to be able to open it from both sides. As far as I can see, this can be opened from only one side. This week I made some minor improvements * Bought some water plants for the pond * Added some fresh fern to the tsukubai This area is getting seriously overgrown by the...

Yeah I get the same performance of my bissetti. A week ago, I saw about 3 shoots, the day after 6 shoots and now one week later I counted 15 shoots, the tallerst about 40 cm taller than the original bamboo from last year... Very impressive plants, and thank god this bamboo is clumping rather than sp...

Thanks Herb for you kind effort! I wasn't thinking about using gravel, but leave the grass as it is, and just add some cement steps from the deck to the pond. And perhals a rock or 2 next to the deck step. I dont like to overcrowd scenes, I prefer polishing what I have :) And this deck is in despera...

Hi! Thanks for your effort, but it was not what I was looking for  If you look at my original pic I have added some black lines where the new step will be. My plan was to add some cobblestones around it to keep the grass away (moulded in cement like a path), and perhaps a few bigger stones (no...

Hi! Yes you are correct, it was a pine I pruned, and not a maple. Here are some pics of todays effords. Im not sure what to do with this pine since it lacks branches in the middle. Either transplant a branch or try to bend down some of the top and bottom ones... http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/5464...

Hi! Yeah George, the maple is an aureum, it was extremly hard to come by! My speciment has a very dense foilage, which I think makes it unnessesary to prune.. perhaps later. But I dont think this type of maple has the weeping style growth pattern that many palmatums have... Yesterday I pruned one of...

I know there is a big bonsai even in my trees, but I lack the skills to find it :( In most books that show how to prune usually rhe tutorials are sketches that show a simp...

Hi George! Yes I will cut them in a slope, but should I treat the cut with something to prevent moist to enter the tree and kill it? This place is rather shady... Thanks for your design ideas... Im not sure I want to make such radical changes... I was think perhaps removing or adding a shrub or two....

New year, new questions, new ideas...
Hi! Now I finally started to do some work in my garden... and as usual I find new problems to solve. I noticed that a big branch of my acer palmatum had died during the winter, so I had no choice but to cut it off :( I made a temporary cut, and I figured I ask teh experts here, what additional steps...

Hi I know that George is skilled in the art of pruning pines. I have tried once, but I didnt have enough knowledge on how to "start" pruning, because at first most pines look like christmas trees. And I have not yet found a description or tutorial that is comprehensive enough to get me started. In m...

Yeah I have been around here a few years and have checked out his garden... Its really inspiring! I would love to see a photo of your garden george, when it has rained and its all wet. Usually that gives a real boost in picture quality. When I go on photo safaries the best weather is when it is mist...
