A pic of my Rascal, in it's prime... in my garden, it seems to be one that begins it's fall decline early...

(Thumbnail should be clickable... my first time doing thumbnails, hope it works!)

Hmmm... interesting observation, Hank :-) I'll have to go check it out to see if there's one eye in particular that has wider or thinner margins than the rest of the plant. Thanks for pointing it out!

'Risky Business', 'Swirls', Color Parade' & 'William Lachman

Here's some of my favorite streakers... I have a streaked 'Risky Business' that I LOVE (sadly, it's sterile, and won't set a single pod for me, but I still love the streakiness:) http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/buff24/DSC01475.jpg If you're into the dwarf/mini hostas, here's 'Swirls', a fun li...

I love my Ice Age Trail! I know it's supposedly a slow grower, but mine has actually grown pretty well (so far, anyway.) I got it last year at Hosta College, it was just 2 eyes barely emerging when I got it. Once the 2 eyes emerged, it looked like this last year: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...

So sorry to hear about your hail damage... perhaps when the hostas put out their second flush later this season, they will look better?? I know that must make you sick to your stomach to look at :(

Great gold hostas! I especially love Jimmy Crack Corn... I SOOO love those ripples. Here are a couple of pics of my Emerald Ruff Cut... Here is ERC last year when I brought him home from hosta college... a tiny, 1-eyed tissue culture http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/buff24/DSC00241.jpg And here...

Here's a pic of my Risky Business... it also leaped this year. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/buff24/DSC01477.jpg And here is a pic of my streaky Risky Business sport. It was divided from the plant in the pic above last year. Too bad it's not fertile (at least not for me...) No seed pods set ...

Swirls is also one of my favorite streaked mini's... Here's an August 2006 picture of it, you can see it's starting to green up. For size reference, that's Touch of Class peeking in from the left... I do not recall Swirls setting any seed pods last year... http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/buff2...

Slugs are out already at my house (zone 5b, SW Ohio...) after the warm temps and rain we've had, they've ventured out of hiding. Today I killed about 6 or so... Hostas aren't even out of dormancy yet, but there they were, slithering around on the poor little dormant eyes. Guess I better get out the ...
