Mr Big and Cherish looks great! I took a few pictures today, Fire Island which I bought 2006 mid summer and it was tiny. It's been growing really well this year and still looks good. Love this hosta! The next one is Stich In Time picked up a month ago from Nalyor and it had steady growth. Can't wait...

Thanks Dave, It didn't produce seed pods this year, can't really tell you about the past years since I wasn't interested in growing seed before. Now the bug hit me :) ! I have been checking the size Paul's Glory the last couple of years and I was thinking wow mine's growing like a weed! ...

Oh No! Wouldn't suprise me! I bought all most of my hostas from a big hosta farm in IL over the years, and this being one of them. Lately over the last couple of years I have wondered if they weren't mislabeling their hosta. That would include the Patriot and Mildred Seaver confusion. This spring wh...

Thanks Bill I also wondered if they weren't the same hosta, it could be when I planted them last summer it was from the same plant, yet the look different which could be like you say one is more mature then the other and since I did have a Mildred Seaver maybe it didn't make it, that could be why th...

Mildred Seaver should have a gold (or at least creamy white) margin when it emerges in the spring. Patriot is always snow white. I really don't remember or didn't check the margins out this spring when they came up. I may just have to wait till next spring to be sure? I found both there labels but ...

Thanks, The one on the left has a lighter dark green, the right is dark green thicker leaf almost a bluish color. These are the only 2 of all the hostas I moved that I just can't figure out. I can't tell you how many times I said to myself this summer "that one is for sure the Patriot and that one i...

I need help which is Patriot and which is Mildred Seaver!
Last year in May someone helped themselves to my hosta, I moved if enough of the hosta was left what I could to a new bed. Well I didn't make a new sheet with what, when or where, thought I would remember. Which is which? http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a336/caroloto/IMG_0358.jpg http://i14.photob...

Ok I have one my Nothern Explosure I've had for about 10 years! Yet really maybe not the poor hosta fault because last year late May 2006 someone decided to help themselves to my hostas. What a mess they left, it's still trying to recover the abuse. But notice there is still hope! http://i14.photobu...

Thanks this is one of my favorites, just looks better and better and bigger every year! It's was just after a hard rain when I took the picture and dirt did get on it's leaves. I'm sure yours will get just as huge and not burn as it gets older. Mine has been holding it's blue color all seasons, it d...

Carol W's Hostas
I've been growing hostas for over 12 years. It all started by visiting a hosta farm Timber Ridge in Elisabeth, IL. Walking around in their hosta gardens, I fell in love with hostas. Ones here as of August 2007: September Sun Polar Moon Fragrant Boguet Sea Dream = destroyed Patriot Mildred Seaver (ma...
