info for garden centers?
Chris, I work at a local garden center and have spotted HVX on Hanky Panky. I pulled all of them off the retail floor and informed my boss. Advised him he should pull all the plants from that supplier (Dutch). And not order from them again. We played the scenario last year and all he did was throw o...

Re: simple question about seeds...
Good luck with your Galaxy seeds. If you decide not to plant them yet they will keep nicely in the freezer. We put our seeds in sealed, marked coin envelopes into a plastic bag. They don't take up much room that way and they are easy to get at when we are ready to plant more.

What is with my Gunther's Prize?
We just planted our Gunther a couple weeks ago. It looked great out of the box. Now it has these areas of damage. Looks almost like burnt, dry areas, but its not on the topmost part of the leaves where the sun would hit it. Could it have been the chilly nighttime temps here in IA? Should we leave it ...

Lowe's seems to have the worst suppliers when it comes to HVX. Last year and the year before I went to many of the Lowe's in Iowa and almost everyone had incredibly virused plants. I spent lots of time talking to managers about HVX and the importance of clean suppliers. I gave them websites for more...

diagnosis for honeybells, please
Here is a leaf from Honeybells. This pic makes the leaf look brownish, it is healthy colored, except for the mottling. So Sweet, next to it in the garden, looks the same. They are in 1/2 day sun. Is this HVX?   If so, what is the best thing to do about the hostas surrounding these two?

A little about us
Hi all. My name is Gary and my wife is Kit. We are very new to the Hosta Sickness. We have had a few hostas for 5 or 10 years. They came up in the spring, grew all summer , and the deer ate them to the ground every fall. Then about four years ago we started to get a little interested in hostas and bo...
