Beautiful pictures. Anyone know why the center coloration is different between the pictures - maturity of the plant or different lighting?
When I saw Marlys's first picture it reminded me of Great Expectations.

Re: Picture of your Favorite Hosta
My preferences are along the Gold Standard lines: Hanky Panky 0947.JPG But I like many others: Fragrant Bouquet 0957.JPG Here's Krossa Regal on the right with two Frances Williams behind it and three low Whirlwind and three Fragrant Bouquet. That's a small Elegans in flower in the middle. I have los...

Re: Hosta Flowers: Any good ones?
One of the reasons I got into hostas was for the flowers in shade. I look for flowers that attract hummingbirds. I have red cardinal flowers and beebalm but I wanted more. I put in a lot of hostas last summer and now I'm looking at flowering times so I can have flowers all summer and late into the f...

Re: Brother Stefan v Paradigm
I have had the opportunity to buy both "in the field" (really in pots) but never pulled the trigger. I have purchased three Paul's Gold. Everyone sees different beauty in hostas.

Re: Some pictures of Striptease sports?
Tassels is registered but Harlot is not.
I found them listed in the "MyHostas" sports database under Striptease:
http://myhostas.net/sports/
There is a description of each plant but "a picture is worth a thousand words". I was interested in how close they are to others in the line.

Re: New Photos Taken Today
I was thinking that when I did it on the cafier lily, it has thicker leaves. You might want to test the "cure" first on a couple of leaves. Just to make sure it doesn't burn them - hosta leaves seem thinner to me than the cafier lily's. It make take a few doses to wipe out the problem. I have used t...

Re: New Photos Taken Today
Another thing - the acolhol will dribble way down into the plant. Don't soak it just let is seep down. I have a cafier lily that once had it bad and I was able to clean it this way. (It's over 20 years old.)

Re: New Photos Taken Today
Oh the wonders of the mealybug. Malathion I think is recommended. But I have used acolhol on a Q-tip. Lots of Q-tips on the really infected plants. Remove really bad leaves. Hit all the fuzzy stuff with the Q-tip and remove it. It is also a social disease - keep other plants away.

Re: Hummer on Plantaginea
Beautiful pictutes, I have seen them hit my hosta but never got shots of them. Thanks.
I do have shots on my feeder. This is old. The under-brush in the background has been cleared for planting.

Some pictures of Striptease sports?
I have seen references to two Stripease sports that I can't find pictures for. Does anyone know of photos for the Hosta Harlot and the Hosta Tassels? Thanks.

Re: Today's pic 12/19
The hosta Hanky Panky got me really interested in hosta. It seems to have the most variation on a single plant. I took the motion out of my first photo story (and removed the second one - it gave me a headache too - my server was too slow and that made the thing jumpy and unwatchable). Try this: [ur...

Let's see how this works with the motion out. There is music though.

Re: Today's pic 12/19
Thanks for the note. I don't really take it as criticism. I needed that information to know what viewers are seeing. The zooming doesn't bother my but if I see spinning pages or panning across that bothers me. Now I know to warn about the different types of motion - the way an amusement ride does. S...

Re: Today's pic 12/19
I have a pine and swamp maple area that we cleared two years ago. I'm still digging out the little "potatoes" of greenbrier - nasty things. The photos are slightly misleading. The first shows an empty space that is a gravel path between areas and the back right of the photo has many sports of June b...
