Re: Iris ID
The light lilac one may be Mary Frances. A Dykes Medal Winner. I was growing it but passed it along this year. Needed space for more rare old historics. I don't recognize the blue one.

Re: un-known iris
Wabash is actually a creation of EB Williamson's daughter Mary. It was mis-attributed to EB in the checklist but has been confirmed as hers thru records that have since come to light. She deserves the credit - it is a wonderful iris and a great garden plant.

Re: when to divide Sibs and PCIs in the PNW?
Hi Judy - Sorry for the delay. Please do not touch your PCIs now. They are VERY picky about division and it must be done in either spring or fall when new white roots are growing out for success. Any other time will kill them. Siberiens are best done in early spring if splitting them up, if just mov...

Good thoughts and prayers need!
Hi all- Our kitty Tuck (aka Booboo) vanished overnight Tuesday and we have been unable to locate him. Have done all the usual stuff to let neighbors and shelters know, searched the woods and trails. We've been having a major heatwave and the house was so hot we let them stay out that night to get so...
Re: PCI's
The PCIs have just as wide if not wider of a color range than bearded iris do, but they are not as developed because of their lack of appeal to a very wide audience do to cultural issues. The crosses with sibs (calsibes) do much better. Sorry to hear those sib seedlings haven't bloomed for you. I go...
Re: PCI's
Not necessary Anja. They will grow great in any Mediterranean type climate (mild wet winters, dry summers), so you can choose from: The PNW of the US and Canada, the Mediterranean, South Africa, New Zealand, western Australia and the west coast of central Chile.
Re: PCI's
You wuld not be the first person who moved west just to grow irises...
Re: PCI's
Here's two more PCI's - these are both versions of i. innominata, and also I'll post a PCI/Siberian cross (called calsibes) Cascade Velvet. KellieD gave me these three (as well as many of the others posted).

Re: Plant ID?
The white is I. ochraleuca, a member of the spuria iris family. Ants love the nectar and are often found in the blossoms. The second is a type of siberian. No way to tell if it was ever a named variety or not - way too many old purples running about.
Re: PCI's
That's a cute little SDB. Here's a seedling (must be from BR above) that opened yesterday. I am in love with it! Also another pretty pass along with no name. I always think I'll get rid of it and then it goes and does something like this. It is not really peach but has that effect at a distance, so ...

More PCI's are opening. Just loving them!!

PCI's
Pacific Coast irises, that is. Hard to grow in other climates (they need dry summers and temperate winters to thrive) which is a shame as they are so tough and pretty. Here's a selection blooming here today.

The second is Helen Collingwood. The last is likely Lent A Williamson.

Re: Sunday blooms...
Wow!! What a gorgeous bloom. I had forgotten all about it. Late summer would be best. I usually dig mine the last weekend in July. Not much going on here with the rain and cool temps we've had. I expect alot of stuff will jump this weekend with the warm temps and sunshine we're expecting.

Here's a few shots of some SDB's blooming now. I am loving Windrose this year. The color is just perfect. I love the soft dusky pink with the contrasting blue beards. Really unique color combo. Ritz is always a good show, and nice jewel-toned colors. Pilgrim's Choice is of a color that cannot be ade...

First bearded irises are opening...
The earliest bearded irises have started here in the Garden of Mu. A little MDB clone of i. lutescens always starts off. It was a nice surprise last Monday when temps hit the mid 70's. Now it is a lovely stretch of clumps along the driveway. Dark Vader popped open today, even tho temps are cool. Thi...
