I am so jealous of your beautiful "cool" looking plants. It is so absolutely unbearly hot here that everything is wilting and I'm afraid that I have let my garden go because I can't stand to be outside for more than a few minutes. It is nice to be able to look at yours!

Re: Unusual weed problem in the hosta beds
Every year I have impatiens come up in weird places, usually not close to where I had planted them. The funny thing is is that because they are the only annual I can really grow, I tend to change colors every year just to mix things up---this year I have 3 different colors from previous years that a...

Re: Severe Hail and Wind Damage- advice needed
I am so sorry. I truly feel your pain as all of my hosta were wiped out by a hail storm in May. I stood in my living room with tears in my eyes as I watched a 15 minute storm completely shred my hosta. Since then, some have put on new leaves and I have removed some of the most damaged leaves. The mo...

I am so very sorry about your voles  I didn't even know what one was until I read your post and did a wikipedia search. Wow, they are sexually mature in ONE month and have 5-10 litters a year--prolific little rats, aren't they! I have lots of moles, which I cannot get rid of, but never have hea...

Your garden is absolutely beautiful---I love the color! I am in total shade and the only color I get is from impatiens, although I did have blooms for the first time on a peony that has resided in my yard for 8 years!

Mine just went out to the beautiful state in which I was born---what a sweet coincidence (that is unless Mike did a background check on me )

I am so amazed at all of the work you have done and I absolutely love the little fountain---I noticed it before I even read that you had made it. I think water features add so much to a garden and now you have inspired me to add another one! What is the base of the fountain? Thank you for the tour a...

How much fun would that be to tailgate out of that car--- Linda, you are right--it was the volume of hail and water in such a short span that was u...

Re: Tough year for some hostas!
I think I could actually hear your sigh. I am so sorry about all of your woes---my large hosta have the same holes as yours from our recent hail storm. My small ones were just pretty much shredded. But, I don't have dogs chasing squirrels (mine is too lazy!), no frost damage or cut worms (just slugs...

Party, an upscale part of OKC has quite a few houses with tile roofs that suffered extension breakage---that noise had to be deafening! I noticed earlier that on the news section of my home page there is a video of hail hitting a swimming pool-it really is incredible to watch. The Hosta Club was com...

Re: HAIL!
Hi Pia! Believe it or not, the damage came from hail!!! Yesterday parts of our state had 19 tornadoes, a week ago there were around 30 I think. But on Sunday we had hail like no one has ever seen. In some areas it was the size of softballs (maybe like a small grapefruit!) There were more than bumps ...

Noreaster, everything is beautiful. I love the different elevations, various types of rock, the variety of trees, and fencing. The hypertufa was a great idea and it will look great with moss growing on it. The semi circle of Lilies of the Valley frames that large bed beautifully. Because of your lov...

I am going to "listen" to all of you pros and not waste my time or money on Fireworks, although it did look beautiful in Laura's pictures!

Re: Note about "Out of Stock" items online
Hi Chris!
While looking at Laura's pictures of your place, I loved 'Fireworks" but it is not listed on your online catalog. I hope it is one of those that will be ready this year---we've been getting enough hail lately that it would feel right at home!

Re: Chartreuse and purple
I really do love the combination. For some reason purples don't do well in my yard---especially the beautiful purple heucheras. Maybe they need more sun than I get. I really like the scattered variegated lirope---makes me wish I hadn't discarded all of mine!!

Re: HAIL!
Speaking of impatience....!!!! Three flats of them are down to little stubs. I am in far west OKC and our hail wasn't huge, but the mixture of heavy rain and hail was a sight to behold. My brother, in far north OKC, had windows knocked out in his house and in 3 of his cars. All I know is I am gettin...
