Re: gardengirl13's rantings

Oh it's been totally crazy! The move went ok, a few hitches that were remedied quickly (one the town can't say for sure what the address is since it has like 3 legal addresses. sigh. But it's all done. We're in the house for almost three weeks now. Trying to get everything planted. I's just been sup...

Re: Hallson Summer Hosta Swap

Got it today mjjones453 thanks!!! Can't wait to get them into pots! We're moving in the next month or so so I don't want them in the ground. But this will REALLY help get our new gardens going when we get there!! The place has NO gardens at all. All grass, so we're really starting from scratch. Than...

Re: gardengirl13's rantings

Ohh it's been so long again! Sorry I'm so bad about coming here! Well we're moving again. The house and yard is ok, the location is not so much. We really miss the privacy we had in our rental. We're trying to buy a house back in the country again. So everything will be dug up and moved again. sigh....

Re: Hallson Summer Hosta Swap

Well I don't have a list yet. I might have one from years ago, not sure where it is on here. But we're moving soon, so all the hostas and woodland/shade gardens are getting moved too. I plan on doing what I always wanted to do a food garden. I also might do a music garden since my husband is a music...

So far we've planted red twig dogwood, forsythia (if you plant it up high it'll settle into wet areas ok) pussy willow, elderberry, winterberry (so far the yellow ones proven winners are starting to sell this year-the red are on back order) vibernum, tri color willow, and another I...

Re: Deer Out????

I too rotate my sprays. Also try bone meal and dried blood/blood meal. I also hang the stinkiest soap I can find in knee highs, I use irish spring. Just tie them to lower branches on trees. Also pee. Yup, sneak out one night and if it's private enough pee (not on the plants!!) or pee into a cup and ...

It's been a bit yet again. I've been spraying like crazy and so far everyone is still here! I rotate between a few different sprays and other smelly things. I just got a pm about getting me the hosta I want, thanks so much for the offer, but the botanical gardens set one aside for me during their pl...

water water every where with no where to go

OK so this seems like a very dead forum topic here, I hope some of you who know bog/water gardens are still around. The last few times I posted I talked about buying a house and moving a lot of my plants over. Well we closed the week before thanksgiving and moved in that next weekend and had our fir...

Re: gardengirl13's rantings

OK I'm going to post this here to remind myself to find it!! We took or niece to the Bershire Botanical Gardens this year and I fell in love, as usual when we go there as they have tons of hostas!, with one flower. I normally don't choose hostas by the flower, but this one really caught my eye! If a...

How did it go? We just moved ours to a new house and holy cow I dug and dug and couldn't get the oldest to budge! My husband took about 10 minutes to get it out after I loosened it! Wow those are some crazy roots!! The two newer ones moved better!

Re: roses against a house?? (new questions)

Well even with this cold and crazy wind this week, the roses still have all their leaves as of today. So that may help me a bit. I do wrap a tiny bit of burlap around them in winter too, and what the deer don't eat they sometimes keep maybe 10% of their leaves. Our winters are wet too though. And th...

Re: roses against a house??

bumping up my old thread. I thought I had posted about my shrubs and roses the other day and now can't find the post. We may be moving at the end of the month and I want this rose to come with us. There is a trellis going up to a pergola but it's on the shady side and my husband is freaked out about...

Oh Karma, I'm sorry I saw this late. I'm sorry for your loss, but it was nice being able to laugh with you about getting back on that roof. I know it's no where near the same as what you're going through, but I have pretty bad health problems, and laughter really does help. I tell my drs that if I d...
