If it's in the 'web' of your hand, definately get it double checked! That's an area that can be extremely bad. Actually any injury there can cause a lot of damage. I remember a friend of mine got a splinter in the web of his hand and the infection that developed was terrible!! He almost lost his han...

I had an incident a few years ago with one of my older cats that's no longer with us. Tabitha got extremely agitated when she saw a strange cat outside the bay window, she was pacing, hissing and screeching and tried to attack one of our own cats when he went to investigate. I went over to stop her ...

Heart warming signs!!
Some of you who know me well remember that I lost my Siamese cat 'Canoe' last October to an aggressive form of Liver Cancer. Our Maine Coon 'Maggie May' had been Canoe's life long partner, he was only 10 months old when she came to live with us over 13 years ago and they'd bonded immediately. They s...

A few blooming in my garden at the moment.
I do need more, with a tree or two gone I might eventually get some more in. For now I have several that do very well in the south rock garden, and a few more that struggle in too much shade but manage to bloom.

Mourning Dove and Chickadee
I'm still trying to catch the Cardinals on the camera, they're sneaky! I was focusing on a Chickadee and I see the red out of the corner of my eye as a Cardinal swooped in, grabbed a peanut and took off! Then I'll be looking out the back door and there's a Cardinal sitting on the sunflower feeder as...

I couldn't agree more. We niether see or hear frogs around here at all anymore. I haven't seen one in years. When I was growing up we saw them all the time, we used to catch tadpols and keep them in a jar, then set them free after watching them for an afternoon. I have a pretty good idea what happen...

Debbie, I feed them all year long, I know a lot of people don't, but more and more of their environment is being carved up here, you have no idea the amount of construction that's been going on here on the West Island over the past few years, month by month another green space, meadow, field is ruin...

O.C., I feed my Jays peanuts, Hubby built that Cedar pedestal feeder with some scrape Cedar left from a fence, then he installed it on a 3 inch PVC pole but at the base right under the feeder he attached a piece of stove pipe we bought at Reno Depot that's 6 inches in diameter and a foot long (best ...

Curious Chickadee!
We have loads of Chickadees all winter and spring and you can hear them all day long around the property. However since I got the camera and have been trying to record all the birds coming to the feeder they haven't landed in my sights! This morning I got lucky and true to form, this one had to fly ...

Roaming in the morning on my street.
Found these critters yesterday morning roaming around just after the sun came up. A very silly baby Jay, numerous adult Jays and a Crow trying to eat sunflower seed along with a Grackle and a young Raccoon. Lots of activity in the morning in my area.

Having a blast! Bought rechargable batteries for it on Thursday, still using the last set so haven't installed them yet. I also bought a camera bag to keep it safe, I have a Siamese cat and he loves to bat at anything that hangs, so thought I'd best buy something that he couldn't get his little mitt...

Some more Jays and a Woodpecker
I took these yesterday morning..Lots of Jays, but saw an adult picking up nuts to feed the youngsters, and little Woodpecker on the suet. I got a photo of the splash of red at the back of his head (that's how I know it was a male) but that came out fuzzy. Think it was Downy, but he was on the other ...

Actually, I love crows!! Really I do. I've been feeding a family of them for years. When we first moved in they drove me crazy, I'd never lived that close to a crow family before but they obviously have been living close by for many years. I've been here 21 years and they were already fully establis...

You guys are so lucky!! We used to have Barn Swallows in the area every year and we went over to the meadow near our house to watch them swoop around and feed their babies sitting up on wires. We haven't seen them the past couple of years. I did find a spot where a huge collony of Cliff Swallows mak...

I just love the Jays, one of the babies was playing with two crows in my front Maple yesterday morning. I was a little afraid for him at first, then I saw that the Crows were humoring him by jumping from one branch to another while he dive bombed them. It looked like all three were playing hop scotc...
