Mike, that's FANTASTIC!! I'm so glad she's home and safe, even if a little haggard. You'll have her in ship-shape in no time. I'll bet she's just as happy to be home as you are to have her back! It's funny, just the other day I was looking at your thread "Last Pics of Gracie" and feeling really sad ...

What is this thing?? Cocoon??

While trimming the shrubs out front we found a couple of these pods. I think they are a cocoon of some sort, they are dry and very light. They are about an inch to an inch-and-a-half in diameter. Any ideas on what might be inside? We usually have praying mantis in those bushes so I'm wondering if th...

I like big weeping willows, planted one way out back when the house was first built 10 years ago. The main trunk broke and what started life as a side stem (or sucker) is now the main trunk. When it was about 3 years old I dug it up and replanted it . . . it didn't seem to mind. Still alive and doin...

I plant them every year on posts at the edge of my garden, they are BEAUTIFUL!! I replant from seed every year and have never had a problem with the plants reseeding or being to agressive. I plant a mix of bright colors and just love 'em.

I second (or third or fourth) the recommendation for Honeysuckle. I planted two varieties on an arbor over the deck and much to my delight, the hummingbirds showed up!!

Hi Peg! Once MANY years ago when I was a kid we planted some peanuts in the vegetable garden for fun. I remember that they grew and they made peanuts and we thought it was SO cool. I also remember that when we ate them we didn't like them because they were "raw", not toasted or salted or anything li...

Hey Patsue, try the fabric/yarn department at Walmart. I was browsing through the yarn the other day and they have lots of those free patterns hanging on the racks and a bunch more usually on the fabric cutting table. I noticed the crochet and knitting ones had quite a few for ponchos and scarves.

I'm sure they will be BEAUTIFUL when you finish them. Double wedding ring quilts are very pretty, but I've never done one myself. I'm too scared of the curves! Does the instructor also work at the quilt shop? If so, could you stop by sometime when she's there and show her what you've done so far and...

Yes Char, it's very nice. I have a spare bedroom that is done with a light blue hue, this quilt will look nice on the bed in that room. You are right about everyone having different tastes, and how a different color scheme can entirely change the look of a quilt, even if done in the same blocks. Jan...

What comes around goes around . . . funny turn of events . . . First, thanks for all the comments on my Fire Truck Quilt. The raffle was held on Sunday and the winner has two little boys, in Kindergarten and 2nd grade, so hopefully they will like the fire trucks. Living in a small town we are always...

I usually jump right in and start fiddling with stuff, but this time I'm reading the manual and doing thing...

It doesn't kill the grass. :( It just churns up the soil. It also exposes all sorts of new seeds that were under the sod, and now those can grow! I always till the veggie garden in the spring which makes it nice and workable to plant into but the veggie garden is pretty grass-free anyway. If I'm try...
