Re: Splitting Black-eyed Susan - Indian Summer

Hi Jerry, The hirta type nerver come back here in Illnois but do reliably reseed. That is until I put mulch down where they grew. That was the last time I saw them. They don't reseed true to mother plant. It was how ever fun to see what flowers came up each year. With each plant being different from...

Re: Mixing Daylilies and Daffodils

Daylilies and daffodils are not affected by juglone, the toxic substance produce by walnut trees. In fact I have many species of plants in my garden and all do well.Tomato plants are not suppose to do will with black walnut trees, but don't tell my tomato's this.

Re: Any ideas about this one - lost my tag!

Re: Growing season to date 6-6-13

My hostas make seedings but if I don't move them to their own spot they parish during summer when they don't get enough water. Is it true that money grows on hosta or more likely hosta takes takes the money away. Nice way of showing the leaf size.

Re: Mercury Rising true color

Thank you Tigger I shall leave them where they are. But won't blame you if color isn't cherry red. Kidding around here. Like I said above route 66 is definitely hardy here with great vigor but very brash color. Only have one bed of hot tones that it can be in. Really hope some of the big bang can do...

Re: Mercury Rising true color

Thanks Chris,
So far I've only tried Cosmic Eye and Cosmic Evolution. Both came back this year but the jury's still out on second year vigor. So far route 66 is amazingly vigorous in it's second year.

Re: Your Favorite Cranesbill

I have a few that I like. Starting with Brookside,Orion and Rosanne all with the same growth habits. I now grow them with roses and it works great during JB season the geraniums are blooming up a storm while the JBs are eating the roses. Then by early fall the roses are blooming up a storm again. My...

Mercury Rising true color

Has any one seen this bloom by chance? Is it more of a brick type red as as found in say Cosmic Eye and hucherelles. Or a softer cherry red that would blend well with pink. I think mine is planted in the wrong spot. Weather is still cool here and I could probably move it if I do it soon. Thank you Pat
