Re: Calendar art
Thank you for the additional flower photos. I can see there is so much variety to the purple flower. My favorite one is Ogon Tachi . . . love the stripes!

Re: Calendar art
First of all, regarding Ooh la la, I don't have a lot of sun, but I would buy it anyways! The one I saw was not very big but the intense coloring blew me away. A very pretty hosta. I hope you post a picture of it next year. Thank you for showing us your calendar flowers. What a great idea! It is ama...

Re: Virus on my Dream Queen?
Thank you David and Chris for the good news! I suppose it is possible that there was a board on top of the pot during the winter and the new spring growth could have been damaged. Also, Chris, you mention that frost damage is another consideration. It is difficult to keep track of all the hostas, an...

Virus on my Dream Queen?
The Dream Queen I purchased in 2013 never looked "normal" last year. I first thought the potted Dream Queen had suffered from frost. Then I thought there could be some kind of insect chewing on the leaves. Now that I am looking at the photos, I think this must be some kind of virus? What do you think?

Re: Calendar art
Sorry to hear that you were not in the mood to make a calendar for this year---your hostas are beautiful. I especially like your Mourning Dove (pretty color), Journey's End (love the coloring and the rippled edges), Inspire Greatness (has such a lovely contrast to it), and who couldn't love Yellow P...

Re: Idiots without Borders Episode 7 Even crazier than usu
That's a great real life story. Interesting how we think we are so different from our parents and yet keep many of the values and traditions. Buying a house on the internet---good for you! Glad you like it. It sure looks beautiful to me! What a leap of faith! I get worried buying pants over the inte...

Re: Not Pic of the Day 5-31-08 Embroidery
I just had to post the picture I took of Embroidery this summer. When I saw it in a private garden, I knew it was special and different. This mature one is definitely stunning. Wish I had taken more photos of it. Unfortunately I had left my better camera at home that day. (Little Treasure is to the ...

Re: Idiots without Borders Episode 2 FAMILY
I love that!: "You make FAMILY, blending those you are born to with those you choose."
Sure would like to try the green chili-pork-cheese-bean burritos at Don Juan’s! They sound yummy!
Looks like a lovely "family." You are blessed.

Re: Clear Fork River Valley with nematodes?
Here is a photo of a leaf of my fern. Now that I see a closeup (and compare it with Bill's photo), I think perhaps it is not nematodes.

Re: Clear Fork River Valley with nematodes?
Thank you Bill! I am afraid I have now cut down my CFRV for the winter. (Of course with a sterile knife.) So I will not be able to do the test. I must keep that in mind for next year! I appreciate the picture of the fern with nematodes you submitted. I don't think that my fern has that kind of appea...

Re: Clear Fork River Valley with nematodes?
I see your point about nematodes ViolaAnn. It would be a difficult task to keep them from entering the garden. Then it is probably a very good thing that our society has its hosta sale at the end of the growing season. I also purchased a fern at the hosta sale and am wondering whether it has nematod...

Clear Fork River Valley with nematodes?
I purchased this hosta in September from my local hosta society. I was thrilled to have a Clear Fork River Valley hosta this size. After bringing it home I noticed one leaf in particular that caused me concern. Otherwise the plant looked disease free. This isn't nematodes is it? I would be extremely...

Re: NOID: Any thoughts as to what this might be?
Sounds like Pizzazz is a real possibility. I'll label it "Pizzazz maybe" and we'll see in another year or two or three! It's been a slow grower for me. Thanks Chris!
