Re: What Annuals Worked for you? What annual is your loser?

If I do pots I only use tropicals. Cannas and coleus are my favorite.

In the garden I use marigolds, cosmos, zinnias all even reseed and I do not have to plant seeds every year.

Re: Survey to evaluate Heuchera

Yes it is a hard plant to figure out what will make it happy and survive. I think I have figured it out for some to survive. The info I read when they first came out was they were a shade plant. I think that was the first mistake. Then they said the plant did not need any fertilizer. That is great i...

Re: Need Groundcover meeting this description:

Sedum probably would be a good choice you should try some and see how it works out. Sedum is like Hostas. A hosta is shade tolerant but if it gets half day sun most will do good. Sedum are the same. They do tolerate in a dry area but some do better with water and probably more than you think. I have...

I was surprised that the flower lasted a week. Is that normal? I have a white one and the bloom lasted one day.

I assume the white is a night blooming and the red is????? :hmm:

Crushed marble, would be beautiful. I used that for my sedum garden my problem was it only looked good for two months. Then the pine needles fell then came the fall leaves and I could not get it too look as pretty as when I first applied. I think I will purchase the large white rocks and add a small...

Re: Tree ID? Unknown

If you have not killed it yet. You could keep it if you have the gadren space. I have 4 acres so I kept the one growing on y property. It is a fruit tree and could add to your health and as said the birds love the fruit. Here is some info.. Regular intake of mulberry in any form would add nutritiona...

Re: Need Sport Advice

Viola, I think if it is noticeably smaller something is wrong. That would not be a sport. Maybe someone knows better than me. When ever one of my hostas started to get smaller they were not long until they were dead.

My Iris

Sorry I do not have names. I moved and when the Realtor said I had to delete some gardens and eliminate some of the bushes. Because people may not want as much garden work as I was willing to do. I had so many things to do and work Ijust started digging and putting plants in garbage bags. My new hou...

Re: Jacobs Ladder(stairway to heaven)

It is not clear when you say you left the Jacobs Ladder out all winter. If planted in ground you should see it by now coming up. If it was in a pot it could be dead. For your planters how about Knockout roses if you do not mind watering every week if you do not get rain. If you want something that c...

Re: What is the problem here

Okay Pia do not to forget to show if you see any results I will do the same. I did read last night on one of the vendors selling Hercs say to give them a feeding in the Spring. That was the first time I have seen to give them fertilizer. Everything I have read said NOT to fertilize. :hmm:

Re: What is the problem here

Pia I usually have snow cover late in the winter. So my Hercs get cold without the snow insulation. I agree the villosa ones have survived my very below freezing temps and no sow cover. The one that has been getting smaller and smaller every year is snow angel. I am experimenting on that one I figur...
