When I give the command "Revier" which basically means bark till Steve "presents" the sleeve. Thunder can't touch the sleeve till Steve moves it. Note the slack in the leash now.

A little different from SAR training

I've shown pics of Thunder doing his SAR training. This is the control that comes with excellent breeding and rock steady temperment. He's only wanting to get his toy (the sleeve) from Steve... :D honest! The first pic is me bracing against Thunder's leash while Steve walks up to him. At this point,...

Pat, I had another thought today. (been a few days since I had one :D ) One of the reasons Hugo is hitting his front legs is because most boxers have a short back in comparison to their height. I recall a Kerry Blue terrier that I trained that had the same problem. My own Kerry male never did this b...

Pat, I'm glad you said that so well. I wouldn't have been so kind. The English Bulldog is one of MANY breeds that (bite my tongue) show people have destroyed for the sake of ribbons. I spent over 10 yrs in the show ring with terriers and never bred a litter of dogs because of what I've seen. Also th...

Seems to be a lot of people that are taking advantage of Chris's hospitality and using his forum for advertising, etc. Hard to trust people that just put up a website and don't post. Do these idiots really think anyone here will patronize their BS? My apologies to the legitimate new posters. Your jo...

It's not uncommon for males to take a bit to mature. My big tough guy Thunder is just now starting to hit the trees....occasionally  . YOu didn't say if Hugo has been nuetered or not. Most males, if nuetered young, will never lift their leg. It has a lot to do with testosterone. Kinda a guy th...

If your good, word of mouth will bring in people. Unfortunately, getting established is the major obstical and people are hung up on the image of a nice shop, etc. I did show grooming on terriers for a number of years. Stripping on hard coated breeds, and scissor work on Kerrys and Wheatons. I never...

They do reseed easily and comming into an already overgrown situation like KHT's could be a pain. The new seedlings are easy to pull up IF you keep after them. Hummingbirds love them. Just remember, it was KHT that said go ahead and try them. :D :D :D

Lisa made me remember about the dry shampoo. My DD#1's DH was terribly allergic to dogs but loved their Rotty. Seems he smelled better also. The dry stuff was geat for keeping down the dander.
