The pond is 4m x 2.5m and 1.5m depth. Raised the koi from small fry and have to keep a net on all the time due to a persistent heron! Use an Oase 15000 pump with a green genie filter etc. Is still working although as the fish grow it requires more maintenance

Depends on whether it is raining or not. It is sunken bog garden to allow the iris to flourish. This year it has been a pond on many occasions!

thank you

Thank you for the pictures of Shinjuku Gyoen. It brought back many happy memories. I used to live as a boy round the corner from this park and many a happy day was spent in the grounds. We used to climb through a hole in the wall at the back and slip into the park! The pond was a fantastic source fo...

pagoda fountain

I have never seen anything like this in Japan - it does not look very authentic to me. As others have said I have seen similiar lanterns etc in DIY shops here in the UK

excellent

It was great to see the programme again - even more impressed seeing it for the second time. Hope they allow it to stay for a while so that others can enjoy your garden in typical Northern Ireland rain!

help - foamy water

This year as my pond comes back to life I am bothered by the amount of foam building on the surface of the pond. I have a small cascade, fed by a large pump running through a green genie 24000 filter. As the weather warms the foam begins to build - any suggestions

thanks sam

The bamboo you gave me and have described is the type they were using - do you know its name? Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures or I would post them. It was in a new garden in Toyama city - not traditionally Japanese - but it looked really well.

Just came back from Japan last weekend and saw a new idea in a Japanese garden, which I intend on trying myself. There was a small acer set in a bed of low growing bamboo ... it looked really well. there was also interest when the acer had lost its leaves. the bamboo had obviously been clipped to re...
