Introducing Pearl :-)
Pearl showed up in my garden day after day about a year after my Paisley passed away in 2007. She has been with us ever since, and is about 11 years old now. Love her to pieces! Here she is in my son's arms, where she loves to be. Any arms will do, though.

Re: Jasmine
Thanks Chris, that is an excellent point about salt buildup. I will put repotting Jazzy on my to-do list once it warms up outside. She's kind of a big girl to try to wrestle with in the house. haha :-) I am pretty amazed that she's done so well. I am well known for killing houseplants. Only the most...

Jasmine
I got a jasmine plant about 5 years ago, after a trip to New Orleans in the spring, I fell in love with the sweet fragrance in the air so I got one to have here in Wisconsin. It grew like crazy and is covered in fragrant white blooms twice a year for at least a month. In June, when it lives out on t...

Hey everyone! I'm back :-)
I have no idea how long it has been. I just got an email telling me I had a response to a post here...when I clicked on it, that response was from 2005! LOL Hope you are well, Chris, and everyone else too! Living in an apartment for the past six years, I am now down to three hostas, from a total of...

I am actually considering getting a cat again after probably 20 years without one. I have allergies, pretty bad depending on the cat, but they tell me now there is a spray you can put on the cat to neutralize the allergens. I actually visited a friend this spring who had two cats and I did not reac...

I see this post is over a year old, but, I do! I get rabbit manure and urine soaked bedding (hay, straw, sawdust pellets) all mixed together, from the people who run the local chapter of the House Rabbit Society. I use it as is. I put it all over the garden in the fall, and in the spring I stir it ...

I grew garlic for the first time this year, and it was a wonderful success. I just stuck in in the back of everything against a little border fence. I enjoyed yummy garlic scapes thru early summer and wonderful garlic now in the fall, I have enough to last the winter, most likely. I planted it 6" d...

Very cool, Jane! I had a monster squash plant develop from my compost bin this year, it quickly grew all around it and up and over it, hiding it nicely and it was very pretty. It turned out to be buttercup squash, yum! I have only the vaguest memory of having bought some of that at the farmers mark...

Those are very interesting and beautiful, KHT! How do they taste? As for ripening, you can just let them set on the counter, or wherever you have room, at room temperature. (Never refrigerate tomatoes, it destroys their flavor.) If they have ANY pink to them at all, even a blush near the bottom, th...

I don't know what could be wrong...I grow snow peas every year and they are one of the easiest things I grow. Just plant them to the correct depth and spacing on the seed package (now would be good, they like cold soil I guess). Put up something for them to cling to as they grow, a little fence or ...
