Re: ID please

That was my first thought when I saw the picture. Hey, it's happened to most of us. I bought a ventricosa from Hy Vee in Muscatine. Have had it 3 years. Just this year I noticed how tall the scapes were on it. DUH---it's Krossa Regal. I just stood there feeling dumb, as a huge KR I have had for year...

Re: ID please

I see a scape in the pic. It's not an immature form of Minuteman . For it to flower, your margins would be wider. It has to be Francee.

If your scape is barren, it's most likely a fortunei, and most of the Hostas mentioned here are fortunei family plants.

Re: What turned out to be your best newer hostas this year?

Chris, my newest Hostas have yet to impress me, but a few newer ones I will say are must-haves are:

Skylight
Atlantis
Cathedral Windows
Key Lime Pie
Emarald Ruff Cut
Lady Guinevere
Journey's End
American Icon

Kim, great story!! :P Wish I had been there to see the whole thing unfold. You guys all made out, and gave a hefty donation to the society as well!
Well, now Lizard King will be in a few gardens, won't it?

If it comes up completely blue, then it's just Blue Angel, or something like that. Guardian Angel's colors should look like the leaf pic you showed, but only early on, then go to blue or green, whatever you want to call it, not the reverse. You just have one eye there that is "true" I'd say y...

The bloom scapes are much too tall to be Abiqua Recluse. I mean, there is a shorter one in the pic, but it can't be AR.

This one has me thinking...

How about Dee's Golden Jewel?

Great!! I was waiting to hear from you, Marlys. So, the 18th it will be. Reldon, you do collect something else besides Hostas...I just know it. Fess up!! :P Sue, I would love to see those pictures. I just love old stuff. My house reflects it. Not much new stuff here at all, except for the newer Host...

yeah Linda, I know I kinda strayed off topic there... even thought about sticking a Hosta Lee sent me with it for the picture.

Yes, it is a nice crock, and it is a pride and joy to own it.

I am going to stick with July 18th for target date unless enough folks convince me otherwise.

Sue, since no one has said a specific date, I will say the 18th is it, then!! :P I figure it won't be any hotter on the 18th than the 11th! Reldon, I think Sue just wants it all. Like many of us "obsessed" Hosta collectors, we also collect other things as well. :D I collect Currier and Ives dinnerwa...

Hallson's Hosta get together 2009

Hi All. I decided to make a separate thread for this, get a little input, then let it die for the year. :P Marlys mentioned to let everyone know right away what the plans are, because some folks need to know far in advance when they need time off. Since I offered to host next summer, here's the scoo...

What a great day it was!! I arrived late as usual, so everyone was already off to visit Connie's garden, but I knew where she lived so I went to Trudy's first to unload trade Hostas, etc., and caught up with everyone a half hour later. :P Connie, I just love how quaint your garden is, with all the c...
